Grocery Stores Get Paid Why Not Medical Providers
How would you like to go the grocery store and say to the checkout girl. Bill my food account. You’ll get paid within 3 months or until the end of eternity.
How about buying clothes for yourself and your family. The same thing ask the store to send a bill to your clothing account. How long do you think these business would stay in business. I am not talking about charge accounts.
I hope you get my point. Only medical providers be it doctors, hospitals. Ambulance companies, laboratory’s, x-ray, etc. get away with this absurd way to get paid.
I was in the hospital just walking down the corridor. My mind went into over drive. Everywhere I looked I saw medical insurance, medical insurance play into his scene.
First of all the emergency room. This is a great money loser. This is where people who do and don’t go for medical treatment. Not for emergency treatment but for treatment they could receive in any General Practice Office.
The emergency room even if the patient does have medical insurance be it good or bad the hospital has to wait from 3 months or until eternity to get paid.
This is the steps which are taken when there is insurance.
A copy of the insurance card is taken.
The patient’s information is put into the computer, name address, name of insurance, what plan. Medical group, etc.
Then eventually the paperwork is transferred to the insurance billing office. There the charges are keyed into the computer system. You realize there are human beings touching the computer 2x’s now.
1st the Emergency Room Visit.

Then when the check comes in from the insurance company this money is applied to the patient’s account, adjusted and then if not paid fully the money is then transferred to the patient to pay or not.
3x’s humans are touching the computer and either entering all this information correctly or incorrectly. I say you have a 50/50 chance of getting all this information correction with each visit to a medical provider.
This is only one big problem when dealing with why your medical bill wasn’t paid by the insurance company or why it was paid incorrectly or not paid at all.
In the meantime, the hospital who has a huge overhead of bills to pay which are too numerous to mention is waiting for that check from your insurance company.
Now I ask you.
