Workshop for aspiring writers
Budding writers will have the chance to meet a published author, discuss her new work and seek advice on how to get published at a series of free workshops to be held in Young on August 5, 2000. Aline Tayar has just finished promoting her new work How Shall We S9ing? and has agreed to conduct two writers' workshops in Young - one for students and one for adults. Aline's book chronicles her life and her family's varied cultural background, from her birthplace in a Jewish community in Malta, to their life in Tunisia, France, Egupt and finally Australia. Itakes the reader through not only her family life but through the communities of the Mediterranean. The book took Tayar seven years to complete and while she is in Australia promoting it she has agreed to host the Young workshops. Tayar who describes herself as a Maltese Jewish Australian Englishwoman has received sponsorship from the Young District Arts Council. The workshops will focus on how Ms. Tayar went about writing the book and how she went about getting published.

This book has been eight years in the making. It is mostly a jumble of thoughts written down in old spiral notebooks and hidden in the bottom drawer underneath various manuals for software packages and hardware long since turned obsolete.
