The Ten Commandments put onto a history project about Roman architecture.
I. I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have other gods besides Me.
II. You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain.
III. Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.
IV. Honor your father and your mother.
V. You shall not kill.
VI. You shall not commit adultery.
VII. You shall not steal.
VIII. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
IX. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
X. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Exodus 20: 1 – 17
For an elementary school history project, our daughter, Maria-Therese (now 29), chose to illustrate architecture used during the Roman Empire.
After completing the model, she decided to give more meaning to the structure, which had 10 parts. Thus, each wooden part represents one of the 10 Commandments.
As in architecture, each part relies on the other for support; as a whole, it will topple if any element is not properly in place – note that the first block (1st Commandment) is the foundation for it all!
The wooden arc was created with the help of our former neighbors Ben Cherbonnier and Robert Roland.
