"ED" - – a new definition desperately needed these days!
E = Eschatology / D = Dysfunction
Eschatology Definitions:
1) per Oxford:
- the part of theology concerned with death, judgment, and the final destiny of the soul and of humankind.
"Christian hope is concerned with eschatology, or the science of last things"
2) per Wikipedia:
- concerns expectations of the end of the present age, human history, or of the world itself. The end of the world or end times is predicted by several world religions, which teach that negative world events will reach a “CLIMAX.”
ED = Eschatology Dysfunction!
My “Eschatology Dysfunction” Definition:
The current milieu of relativism and subjectivism that posits no objective truths and, thus, no concern with the end of the present age, history or of the world itself!
Ever since Descartes' “Cogito ergo sum ('I think, therefore, I AM,'”),” a slippery slope towards nihilism has occurred.
Nihilism definition (per Wikipedia):
- the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.
Treatment for ED? - Natural Law, Theology of the Body!

For example, there are many. When we see our dogs or cats suffering with age, we take them to the vet and we have them euthanized. But, we charge all of our doctors with the Hippocratic Oath that requires them to sustain our lives way past all understanding. If we have lived a full life and are now suffering from ailments that will eventually kill us. Why can't we just decide that we'd like to die peacefully in front of family and friends?
What is it that makes us different from our pets? The fact that we make the decision for their death? Is that what's bothering the "right to life" hypocrites? We start our wills with "being of sound mind." Why can't we end our lives, "being of sound mind," rather than wait until we are slobbering, incoherent, delusional, demented suffering souls with thousands of dollars of hospital, assisted living and nursing home bills?
Is that what our God and Savior wants for us?
