The constitution was drafted by people who got their hands bloody to make it happen. For the last 100 years, it has been amended by those who took over the political system, the Democrats and Republicans. A two party system creating an illusion of democracy (in a republic) by presenting you with people to vote on, whom were prepicked for you to vote for. That we are a Democracy is the Great Lie that we fell for. Changing that system will only be done by one of two ways: Get our hands bloody or use it against them. If things continue as they are, then yes, a revolution such as in other countries will become the only way to break the stalemate however many years down the road when we‘re defaulting on our debt, starving from inflation, our political system is a dozen fractured ‘parties‘ bickering with each other, and we have zero allies because all our politicians are two faced. However, that path is the path of failing to communicate. The two party system the elite have created to protect them can be used against them. The illusion of ‘them’ vs. ‘you’ is just that: An illusion created by the elite to make their system operate. If we’re busy arguing amongst ourselves, than we aren’t arguing against them. If you’re with ‘them’ you’re against ‘those’. There have been very few governments in history to reduce their power for the peoples’ benefit, which is what ‘change/update the constitution’ really involves. The entire step of getting people into office who are willing to make those changes is being ignored, not to mention the other steps that must be traversed in such a journey.

Changing term limits and the electoral vote system involves changing amendments in the constitution, so both automatically involve the entire issue of constitution modification touched on above. As does not letting uninformed voters vote. This suggestion also ignores the fact that there’s no real definition of the phrase since everyone claims others are uninformed if they don’t know the names they consider pertinent. Never mind the fact that names are unimportant and what matters are the issues at hand which makes things even more murky for any definition of ‘uninformed voter’. I suggest that there aren’t any informed voters based on the situation we’ve voted ourselves into and any argument about such is a catch-22.

Politicians can’t make the changes needed because they’re skipping the step that says they’re part of the problem. Citizens are skipping the step saying politicians aren’t going to make changes that will cut their own throats. Pushing a button isn’t going to solve anything. Only a complete eradication of the artificial political walls that have been built between us will make us feel as one and then we can make change happen. The fundamental question isn’t one of what needs changed or even who will do it, but can the Citizens tear down the walls that were created to control them? Politicians don’t want you to agree, because that means you may agree you don’t need them, as we would in the current situation. They want the walls and do anything they can to make them higher so that we argue amongst ourselves while they do whatever they want. Divided we fell, but united we can stand again.

We, the Citizens, have the power to change this country through the very process already in place. Only the political walls that semi-force people to vote for ‘their’ group out of fear of the other group getting votes keeps us from making those changes. Everyone is afraid of ‘throwing their vote away’ when there’s no such thing. Nothing keeps independents out of office except people are afraid of voting for them because they didn’t think enough other people would make the change to make a difference. Which is a self fulfilling prophecy. Everyone knew and knows change is needed, but that change keeps getting strangled from lack of communication and fear propagated by the current ruling elite who just prop up another cardboard cutout after the Citizens chew up the last one. I’ve lost count of how many ’rising stars of the blah party’ have crash and burned in the last decade.

Communication is the key to change. With communication, we can start dissolving the political walls that separate us. With communication, we can agree on who to vote for that isn’t going to help perpetuate the current political climate. With communication, we can see that once the walls are erased, we’re all the same. With communication, we can enact laws to reduce corporate corruption. With communication, we can start making changes and fix it for the people, by the people. These things don’t start with changing the constitution, they end at that point. That’s the goal, not the path. We can’t magically jump all the steps between start and finish.

These things won’t happen in one election, or two, or three. We’ve found ourselves in a situation we want immediate relief from, but from which immediate relief is impossible. The ruling elite are too entrenched and the walls are still being built, not broken down. We don’t need more political parties, we need less. We need none. We’re already so fragmented the government came to a standstill for more than two weeks for no real reason at all. More fracturing will only compound the issue. More fracturing only makes increasingly small groups that lack the power to make their ideas felt, resorting to terror tactics like what’s filled Washington for the last month.

We are one country, one group of Citizens, and we can shape our future if we work as ONE.
