I went back to my secret place yesterday and discovered shortly after arriving that I had a visitor there with me. No it wasn't another person. I sat on my favoirite rock and there hiding in the bushes was a small fragile little fawn. Its ears were pinned back to his tiny little head as he buried his face in the undergrowth. His spots were plain to see as were his rather large dark brown eyes. I am not sure where his momma was so I sat and spoke softly to him trying to comfort him into believing I would never hurt him. I sat and waited with him for quite some time and he never moved. I finally had decided I would leave so his momma would come out and get him. As I stood to leave I heard a short whistle in the woods and he put his little face down further into the soft brush. I smiled to myself and walked away knowing she was there and waiting for me to leave her space so she could come and get her baby. All in all it was an exciting adventure for me to whitness.
