Ecclesiastes tells us that there is no end to the writing of books. I had no compelling desire to write another book until I was strongly awakened one morning with these words from Hebrews 10:25 inscribed on my mind—as you see the day approaching. This one is unlike my first two novels that wove Scriptural principles through fictional stories in both the times of Noah and the times we face today. This project required deep dependence on God in order to write on such a topic. The need for truthful insight meant avoiding fast-tracking a viewpoint that could be misleading or fear-based. I needed the Lord’s help with what I believed to be His assignment. Such required much study, prayer and listening. Writing was not to be forced, but faith-based and flowing from God’s heart of perfect love.
We live in a time when the doomsday clock is ticking close to midnight. Fears are rampant in a satanically-corrupted world. The end-time birth pangs of wars, earthquakes, pestilences and famines are growing closer and more severe as Bible prophecy unfolds. Lawlessness and great deception mark the times. There are signs worth considering that earth-shaking changes could soon be coming.
There is coming a day for the final separation of wheat and tares and for the gathering of believers. Yes, the catching up is clearly described for the rescue of the righteous, as Noah and Lot were removed before God’s judgment on wickedness in their times. It will happen again. In our day judgment has not yet fallen because the Lord is longsuffering... not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). The Lord’s Day is described as a day of darkness and outpouring of God’s terrifying wrath upon a Christ-rejecting world. It does not come without warning, and those who love the truth will take heed.
There is a place of safety in a world gone crazy and self-destructive. It is found by faith in our Creator God who became perfect man to die on the cross. His life-blood payment was required to save our souls and demonstrate the love of our Heavenly Father. He is calling us to more than an intellectual assent (Even the devil believes there is a God). The Son of God wants our submission to His lordship. Even in the midst of darkness Jesus offers us the glorious light of His kingdom manifested in the Holy Spirit as righteousness, peace and joy. Psalm 91 offers a safe haven for the believer. The Scriptures have much to teach us about being overcomers in these last days.
A special thanks needs to go to my Sunday evening Bible class at our church for their encouragement of an old man to write another book, one chapter at a time, and to teach it as it progressed, a chapter a week with chapter handouts for review. Eight content headings included "Eyes to See, Evidence Needed, The Day of The Lord, Children of The Night, The Nearness of The Hour, The Man of Lawlessness, God's Secret Place," and "All Things New". As a paperback, it is now available on Amazon with the subhead, "As You See The Day Approaching: Preparing for Earth's Final Hour". Strange how the teacher sometimes learns more than the students. Our remaining time definitely seem shorter.
I pray that the book will serve to enlighten, encourage and strengthen the reader to endure and shine through whatever dark trials and tribulations that our loving Father allows. And notice the first part of the title verse that reminds us how important it is to maintain Christian fellowship with fellow believers.—Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. God wants us to get and stay ready together.
