I'm listening to God's Word as I do nightly, and Ps.119:165 says, "Great peace have they that love your law, and nothing shall offend them."
I laugh to myself, thinking how needful is that scripture to be a reminder to so many Christians, who display very little peace in every day life and who are so easily offended!
So many professers show little evidence of being possessers!
They have to take meds for their nerves...because they have little or no peace. They have to take meds because they can't sleep, because of mental or physical anguish. Ps. 4:9 says,
"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety."
The Law of the Lord is referred to in scripture over 70 times...so if we know God's law, we won't be offended.
Why are we offended? The number one reason in my opinion is because we take everything personal.
From preaching to politics, if someone looks at us wrong, we are offended. If the preacher steps on our toes, we are offended.
If our new President says something brash, we are offended. All of these examples display taking things personal
It becomes a habit, to be offended.
Wearing our feelings on our shoulders, as we used to call it, denotes inferiority. "Just cross me", it implies.
A lack of knowledge of God's Law creates so much of the havoc we have to contend with daily.
Let the Word of God dwell in you richly, and when an offense comes, send Jesus to the door!
