Do we ever have situations in life which bring a cloud of doubt upon the absolute sovereignty of our great God? I don’t know about you, but I certainly do.

We can’t focus on all the good things God does for us in retrospect when we allow a dismal cloud to distract our birdseye view of our present day affairs.

Certainly in retrospect it’s quite obvious to a believer or non-believer who knows us that where we are and what we are experiencing is nothing less than a God sent miracle. 

How in the world could we forsake all, abandon the comfort zone of our lives, and take on a journey which had no real significance at the time? 

Here’s how...a glimmer of hope.

See, a glimmer of hope is the believer’s anchor in a storm. A glimmer of hope is in contrast to a cloud of doubt.

It’s actually easier to accept the cloud of doubt when it seems the bottom drops out of our lives than it is to look for a glimmer of hope. I even think it’s human nature...but we don’t live as humans by nature when we live for Jesus.  He supersedes humanism and nature.

How many times throughout scripture do we read of Jesus defying the very acts of humans and nature?

If you aren’t a student of the Word of God, google it. You will be amazed if you search out scriptures to how many times Jesus gives a glimmer of hope to a cloud of doubt.

It seems incumbent upon me to encourage myself in the Lord today with these words, which I feel are coming from the Holy Spirit into my feeble mind. You see, no matter WHO we are, WHAT we do, WHEN we have a need, WHERE we find ourselves in our journey of life, nor HOW we choose to believe or disbelieve, the WHY never changes...because we are needy people, in need of the only One who can sustain us, the only One who has every solution to every problem, the only One who can replace a cloud of doubt with a glimmer of hope—Jesus Christ, the Son of God. So many scriptures are bombarding my mind even as I write these words, too many to begin to elaborate on here. 

Some ppl say, “well, God never speaks to me...”, to which I rebut, “when have you read His Word? He speaks to me daily from it.”

For most of those who will take the time to read this wouldn’t have time to read a lengthier portion, so it will end with an illustration.

Say, for instance, there’s something you want so badly, you have prayed and asked God to grant it, but circumstances change and it brings a cloud of doubt along with it.  Then, right on its heels comes another situation completely out of the norm and with it comes...you guessed it-a glimmer of hope.

We serve a God who knows no limits. From everlasting to everlasting, He is God. He never changes. 

So, in the midst of this cloud of doubt today, God has seemingly sent a glimmer of hope.

How will it end? Only God knows, and either way, it’s my plan and purpose to say as Job, “Even though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”

 

I’m looking for a glimmer of hope, not a cloud of doubt!
