As I was watching one of the renowned televangelists still tickle the ivories at almost ninety years old, I was reminded of the unfathomable grace, mercy, love and faithfulness of God. Man fails…God is faithful. 

One comment stated “here is a perfect picture of how the grace of God abounds. King David was a murderer and an adulterer, yet God called him a man after God’s own heart, chose his lineage as the one for our Messiah, and gave Israel one of her wisest kings through his bloodline. This proves, it’s pretty evident that God still has this one servant of God covered.”

Another comment stated, “the faithfulness of God overshadows the frailties of man…this man’s life illustrates that.”

Reminded me of the scripture, “the gifts and callings of God are without repentance,” proving Romans 8:30, “Moreover, whom He predestined, those He also called; and whom He called, those He also justified; and whom He justified, those He also glorified.”

The events/sins of fifty+ years ago don’t determine the fate of a man today, when he knows a life of repentance. 

Many fall from grace, and the higher they climb, the farther they have to fall. We may fail, and most do at some point in time, but we don’t have to be failures. 

As Christians we learn that repentance is a way of life, it doesn’t give us the license to sin, but it does give us the logic associated with it—to continually fall at the foot of the cross, seeking forgiveness from our human errors, and be willing to accept whatever consequences are required. “The love of God (truly) is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell - it goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell…”

We, as mere mortals, are quick to judge, point a finger, ridicule, mock and jeer someone who falls into a trap of sin, all the while not admitting our inward sins are just as sinful as any outward sin others may commit. 

There seems to be a trend now to see how many “ servants of God” can be exposed for their sins…with no regard to time that has lapsed. No doubt it is not really a trend, but rather the fulfillment of the scripture, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” 

God is calling those who are supposed to be teaching and leading the flock of God to re-examine their own motives for ministry…as I say, “some are sent, while others went.”  Big difference. Those who are sent have a keen awareness of their insignificance outside of the cross of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 

Those who went are like hirelings, in it for the minute of fame or a career of living a prosperous life at the expense of the poor and needy, who they’re supposed to be caring for, instead of taking from.

May God continue to call to account those who are peddling the gospel for financial gain, and not preaching the gospel for the saving of souls. 

Those who shear the sheep to feather their own nests should be exposed. Those who are living in sin need to be exposed. Those who preach ‘another gospel’ should be exposed. 

It’s a thin line, and as is the case so many times, good intentions become warped as sin predicates its very purpose. “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” speaks volumes. 

As the title to this article states, ya never know what lies ahead.

“The Word of God is quick, and powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The Pharisee spirit limits the accomplishments of many who are unknown, seemingly unfortunate, not so rich in worldly means, but…ya never know what God sees in the deep recesses of a sincere heart who wants to His will.  “For man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.”

Just a thoughtful reminder, YA NEVER KNOW…given time and circumstance, what the ultimate outcome may be for the least considered…as Paul stated, 

1 Corinthians 1:25, “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.” 

YA NEVER KNOW…time will tell, it always does.
