Do you know anyone who tells the truth? I know countless ones who lie at the drop of a hat. 

What is it about telling the truth that’s so difficult? 

And then, unless they’re experienced habitual liars, you can look at them in the face and tell when they’re lying. Another plus of having the gift of “discernment”. 

The idea of  “the principle of the matter” doesn’t enter into the picture. Shows the shallowness of the mentality of our society. 

If I ask a question, I don’t expect the answer to be “what I want to hear”, but rather what the truth is. 

We have a bunch of weak, liberal, entitled, adults/youth walking the streets of America, who think themselves above the status quo, especially if they thrive on lying. There’s no such thing as a little white lie…lies are black, untruthful. Has nothing to do with race, creed or color. A lie is a lie. It’s a sin element. You don’t have to teach a child to lie…were you in the cookie jar?, when they’re caught with their hand in the cookie jar…answer-NO. See, it’s a lie. But they have to be taught to tell the truth. 

Lying is a way of life, more so now than I have ever seen in my 73 years. 

And it’s not just heathens and criminals and ‘sinners’ who do it. Some of the biggest liars I know claim to be ‘Christians.’ Notice I said, claim to be. Real Christians don’t intentionally lie as it is a ‘sin’ to lie, just like adultery/fornicating, stealing, cheating, malice, envy, strife are ‘sins.’ 

So, as a friendly reminder, perhaps it would be a good day to read ch. 21 of the book of Revelation…God has a beautiful plan for His creation, and it would behoove us all to strive for what lies ahead in eternity rather than enjoying lying to any and everyone who is gullible enough to believe them. 

Verse 8-…”but the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral (whoremongers), those who practice magic arts (sorcerers), the idolaters, and all liars—shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” 

If you are a liar, you need to repent, and ask God to forgive you for being a liar. If you lie to keep from offending someone, it’s still a lie. Repent. Telling the truth keeps the soul clean. 

Many times it’s easier to lie than to tell the truth, but in the long run the truth is what will last. What’s the old saying, “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive.” What are deceptions?—another word for lies. 

I challenge you to evaluate your words…are you a man or woman of character, of truthfulness; can you be counted on to ‘say what you mean, and mean what you say’, call a spade a spade, or do you prefer to lie?

We all make daily choices, and many times give no forethought to the possible consequences we will reap from them later.

    but the wicked are filled with trouble.

22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,

    but those who act faithfully are his delight.

23 A prudent man conceals knowledge,

    but the heart of fools proclaims folly.

24 The hand of the diligent will rule,

    while the slothful will be put to forced labor.

25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,

    but a good word makes him glad.

26 One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor,

    but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

27 Whoever is slothful will not roast his game,

    but the diligent man will get precious wealth.
