I truly love Authors Den, but their censoring policy of using asterisks to disguise the word "fuck" is, in my opinion, provincial and archaic.

First off,  other than designated children's and religion based movies, we can hardly see any type of film, in any genre, without hearing the word used any number of times.

Of  all the articles and stories that  I've submitted only three have the word "fuck", and the word is used where and as it should considering the situation and characters. All three stories, they are: "The Catalyst", "Korea" and "Longitude, North 41 Degrees, 42 Minutes 018 seconds"

 We all know the word and what the word means, and the use of  *** only makes the word more obvious.

 Oh, yes, one other thing I have recently discovered, the word "clitoris" is changed to "oris"... Really now! A citoris is a legally described word. Why would someone make the decision that the word clitoris is pornographic and change it to "oris"?

So I ask you, in context,  if I'm writing about a conversation between men or boys, would the genitalia they're speaking of have to be described as a vagina and a penis? Really!

In descriptive copy I will always use the literate word/words. In verbal copy I will always use the word/words spoken by the character in character with his thoughts and/or conversation.

Please believe me, I am not one that thinks the word , or any swear words should be used indiscriminately or merely for shock value,  but  yes in context to the situation or character. For example: In a true show of anger or in a conversation  between men, or, as anyone who has ever been in the military knows, the word and all its derivatives are used constantly. 

Shall we change the soldier's words to: "Gee whizz, who gives a darn?"

AH-HA!!! Just figured it out... It's okay to use the word "Clitoris" and "fuck" in articles (like this) but the words will be censored if it is a story.
