Guess this is one of those "Accepting Old Age With Humor" things, because, speaking only for myself, for me there are only two days in the year: The Fourth of July and Christmas, and all of the days, weeks and months between are a blur.

The Climbing Boy takes place on one day: December 24, 1843, which, by no coincidence -- after all I wrote it -- is that exact Christmas Eve day that Ebenezer Scrooge had his three ghostly visitors. My little boy, my "Climbing Boy" even makes a quick stop at that "morose tavern" where old Ebenezer had his "fragment of underdone potatoe". So, as one can well imagine, The Climbing Boy does become a bit mystical towards the end.
