I have some neighbor/friends that have been living in Spain for the last number of years and have become enamored, or at least they give the impression that they are enamored with the European life style and, of course think Obama is the greatest thing since peanut butter and

socialism is okay with them.

As the evening rolled on, and a few more drinks were consumed, I recalled something I had read and, though I kind of bumbled my way through, this is basically the story I recalled:

At a lecture on Democracy,  an economics professor at a local junior college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
     

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, and that socialism would be the  great equalizer.
     

“Okay,” the professor then said, “we’ll do an experiment. 

All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.” 
 

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B..
     

The students who studied hard were rather upset while the students who did little studying were happy.
       

When the second test came, those who studied little studied even less and those who’d studied hard figured they’d like a free ride too so they studied less also.
      

The second test average was a D!
      

No one in the class was happy.
     

The 3rd test average was an F.
     

The class scores never increased because no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their surprise the entire class failed and the professor told them socialism would ultimately fail because, "when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed."
