I do firmly believe that if an insane person is bent on murder he or she will find a way to commit murder and,figuratively speaking, taking my legally owned guns will not stop him or she from committing murder.
As a gun enthusiast; as strictly a target shooting gun enthusiast living in California, the laws pertaining to the ownership of guns in the state of California are strictly enforced -- of which I have absolutely no problem with --and, actually, am glad for the laws on the books and do feel that if the laws on the books of our other states were followed and enforced as the laws of the state of California laws are followed and enforced there might be far fewer gun related problems. As a former hunter who brought home and ate everything that he shot as a licensed and legal game animal or bird, I see no value in target shooting except as a wasteful use of resources or to hone one's shooting ability.
Handguns and automatics are meant only to kill humans and are not hunting devices. Crime statistics do not contain the thirty thousand gun accidents that occur each year in the home. Most often those killed are children.
We are a gun toting, wild West attitude people, armed to the teeth. Even our police forces practice overkill with hundreds racing to a crime scene and participating in mob activity with furious gun battles that are totally unnecessary. The latest was when the Boston police opened up with thousands of rounds on a boat that contained a badly wounded terrorist. It was only until a federal officer ordered them to stop because they needed to interrogate the already disabled young man, that the police ceased their overkill. Something is seriously wrong when we have guns in our hands and engage in mob activity. I fear the day when anarchy reigns and so many well-meaning unarmed people like me are shot for no damn reason except people like you with guns go crazy with fear.
Surrendering to the enemy will always end a war. Unfortunately, it does not always stop the enemy from killing you anyway after you surrender. Here's what they forgot to mention about the proposed,so called, universal background check law....Right now state governments conduct background checks and set the standards for approval...They check for DWIs, felony convictions and general arrest records...and it works. If you are disapproved by a screw up, you can hire a lawyer and challenge the state's disapproval. Under the proposed universal background check...the federal government controls the background checks and sets the standards... and has the final say on approval. The state submits the application to the feds..and it comes back either approved or disapproved, no explanation required by the state other than you failed the federal background check. What kind of standards can the federal government set?...He has a bad body fat to weight ratio...clearly a sign of a lack of self control..disapproved. His third grade teacher reported that in 1972 applicant took a bite out of an apple in school and the bite resembled the image of a gun...clear sign of violent tendencies...disapproved....Amendments and List updates will be made via state run media stories...Flash... ...Blond haired person shoots police officer....add people with blond hair to the disapproval list. ...Bald guys shoots self in foot...no guns for bald guys!!!!....Get the picture? The Federal government wouldn't do something like that? I guess you can trust a government that tells you that you can still keep your current employer paid for healthcare insurance if you like...and only millionaires and billionaires are going to see their taxes increased. Oh...and the Benghazi killings were caused by a YouTube video...So of course you'll still be able to purchase and keep a firearm at home to protect your family once the new universal "background check" is in place...that is..if you like.

Restricting gun sales at Trade Shows and Internet to being Slower and Registered is the Big Issue. you are correct that no one will stop a Nut... BUT... Restricting the Amount of and Type of Firepower would Limit HOW MANY WILL DIE SO QUICKLY !
