The message from the Left seems to be that millions of America’s apprehensions about this administration’s agenda is nothing more than a cover for bigotry. Even as the President attempts to distance himself from some of his nonsensical base, because he knows how self destructive their name calling will be, one leftist after another pours gasoline on the fire. Conservatives need to remain calm, continue to expose the President’s agenda, reject extremists on the right and watch as the left makes our case for us. 

We have a President who proudly calls for a transformation of America. Agree or disagree, he is the author of “change” that tens of millions of Americans do not want. In the process he has quadrupled our national debt, along with the UAW taken over 2 automobile companies, wants to impose economy killing energy taxes via “cap and trade” legislation and is trying to take charge of 1/6 of the economy with his version of health care reform. So it makes perfect sense that many will oppose his actions and proposals. Some even have the First Amendment gall to speak up at town hall meetings, organize tea parties and sign petitions.

And yes at rallies and town hall meetings ‘kooks” turn up. Just as they did at anti-war and G-20 protests that turned into riots. Some hateful placards, vile language and bigoted images appear at protests. It is not unique to conservative gatherings. However, it is but a tiny segment among conservatives. But since the President’s legislation is in trouble and he happens to be half black, there are low life’s that cry “racism”, trying to mischaracterize the vast majority of those who gather and organize to defeat the policies of this President.

Racism is the ultimate American insult. It should never be used casually and certainly without clear evidence that racism exists. Those who choose to try and reopen that old wound for partisan purposes are barking up a tree that will crush them when it topples. Whether they are acting because of their own lack of understanding about the character of the American people or because of pure animus, the results will be the same. What follows is but a small sampling of those who traffic in these sorts of personal assaults. 

“I guess we’ll have folks putting on white hoods and robes and riding through the countryside intimidating people.” This hyperbolic statement was made by Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA).  

“Congressman Wilson is the face of the KKK”, as spoken by Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney.

Johnson and McKinney draw these outrageous conclusions based on a very impolite two word outburst by Congressman Joe Wilson during a joint session of Congress. Wilson yelled “you lie” at the President over an issue of health coverage for illegal aliens. Impolite, lacking in respect for the President and the institution, and lacking in self control? Absolutely! Racist? Hardly! 

Now similar words of wisdom from a man who believes Hamas bargains in good faith and Israel is an apartheid state. Thus Mr Carter’s credentials as an astute judge of both character and morality have been made crystal clear for many years. Does our illustrious failed former President expose some of his own long held and unresolved issues with bigotry, while attempting to impugn the motives of others? Just a question. Take a look.

"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American,"  Former President Jimmy Carter told "NBC Nightly News." He further stated, "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shares the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans."

Finally the remarks of the New York Times queen of ad hominem attack:  “But fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie boy!”

This pretty much sums up the attitude. She admits it’s not fair. And she admits “boy” resonates in her head. Hum? Another case of unresolved guilt? Only a question. Not an accusation. Unlike Ms. Dowd, I can’t read other peoples minds.

You remember Maureen Dowd. She is the famous mind reading columnist for the New York Times. Please take a few moments to Google Ms. Dowd’s long history of attacking all varieties of people using her acute psychic powers to discern other peoples motivations. We dare not question her intellectual and moral superiority when commenting about her take on two words uttered by a lowly southern conservative. So don’t question her, just send her a thank you note.

Most of us see these comments for exactly what they are. But those who have made the truly hateful remarks don’t particularly care, as Ms. Dowd told us. They are ideologues stuck in an America that no longer exists. They are as Larry Elder has described,  “victocrats” and “victocrat” sympathizers. They are closed minded. They thrive on an anachronistic vision of America that is long gone. If America is largely racist free then their world vanishes and their arguments must return to substance.

If you are white, Southern, a religious Christian, dare to disagree with the first half black president and if God forbid conservative, then you can only be racist in the eyes of these people. Not only do the people quoted above misperceive the average American, they are oblivious to the service Leftist perform for the conservative cause. The vast center right citizenry will not take kindly to the characterizations made by these Leftists.

So with a complete sense of sincerity, I thank these flame throwers and their ilk. President Obama’s halo has faded. As the actual meaning and content of his “change” has come to light, his support has plummeted. With the help of the Dowd’s of this world, we will see a major conservative swing in the mid-term elections. Let us bless the Left. Amen
