“One of the most beneficial therapies in my pursuit for improved well-being has been learning and using muscle response testing. Although I have used many therapies and still combine therapies, I believe this therapy has basically saved my life. Muscle response testing uses the body’s natural responses to harmful stimuli (valid or perceived). This testing determined all of the factors in my environment that “weakened” me, thus allowing me to avoid them. Once I avoid the harmful factors, my strength was restored and my body concentrated it’s energies towards healing”. Elisabeth Hines, Author of Health By Design

“Muscle Response Testing” is a system that uses neuromuscular biofeedback, which is a physiological response to a stimulus. The resulting feedback is a strong or weak muscle response. The stimuli can be physical like food, drugs, chemicals or microbes. If you are allergic to something and you touch a sample of the substance you are allergic to, every muscle in your body will weaken. If you are not allergic to the substance, every muscle in your body will remain strong while you touch the substance.

Forms of non physical stimuli include thoughts, emotions, memories or questions. If someone gives you bad news every muscle in your body will exhibit some degree of weakness. This is why you are usually asked to sit down before being given the bad news. If you think of a traumatic event in your past you will also experience muscle weakness throughout your body.
A similar type of physiological testing response is used in polygraph testing. In this type of testing an instrument measures and records blood pressure, pulse, respiration and skin conductivity while the subject is asked and answers a series of questions.
There are a variety of other biofeedback devices that are used to monitor physiological changes. Thermometers, blood pressure measuring equipment and devices that measure electric charges in the body like an electrocardiogram (ECG). Taking your pulse before and after eating various foods also uses the biofeedback concept.
Your brain has recorded information about everything that has ever happened to you and knows exactly what is causing your symptoms, much like the "black box" (computer) in an airplane. Your brain is more complex than high tech computer systems.
Mentioning or thinking about a traumatic past event causes muscle weakness because your brain has stored information about the event and mention of it causes emotional trauma which causes muscle weakness.
Mentioning or thinking about other information like foods, personal care products or environmental factors will provide the same type of weak muscle response if your brain has recorded information that these things have had a harmful or negative effect on you in the past. Information of past effects like allergic or sensitivity reactions, breathing polluted air, eating contaminated foods, physical injury or compromised organ function are recorded in the brain.
Muscle response testing is used in combination with a scientific questioning protocol in the BodyFeedback™ Interview & Therapy System. The system consists of lists of words relative to your genetics, environment and body status. The practitioner goes through these lists of words and tests for muscle weakness with each word mentioned or thought. Foods substances, personal care products and supplements can also be tested using this method. You can learn to use this system on your own body.
