Families are the foundation of humanity. Mum, Dad and the children, grandparents, uncles and aunts, neices, nephews and cousins make up the physical life that make nations and governments work or don't work. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for our forefathers. Nor would we be here if God did not create us in the first place.
Life was perfect for a very short while before Adam and his wife Eve disobeyed God's clear instruction not to touch the tree of life that stood in the midst of the Garden of Eden. Since then, every problem that has developed has led to worse reactions in ourselves and each other. We have refused to think before we act. We have refused to acknowledge a very loving God whose desire is to have a relationship with all who love Him. At first it took a World Flood to show how much it grieved God, but He saved Noah and his family because they were faithful to Him. But even since Noah's time, our problems have gotten worse over the centuries and we have refused to treat each other with the fair respect and honour we all need. Wars, battles and treaties have all come from human greed, revenge and an evil heart. The seeds of evil began in someone somewhere which in turn had increased through those who supported the idea and then onto armies who were forced to obey.
Hitler was not born with a hatred of Jews. He developed it, which led to the European war and the Holocaust.
So where does those seeds leave us today in this twenty-first century?
Many issues overwhelm our society today. Drugs, domestic violence, sexual crimes, disease, rebellion, murder, road accidents, mental health, protests, and many others, including those serious behaviours using modern technology.
We cannot escape from our worries.
So, what we going to do about it? What is going to help us learn the answers to all of our problems?
We blame the government when things go wrong. They are our decision makers, and in many cases those decisions are the wrong decisions. A lot of our leaders are not the best leaders. In some countries, democracy is not in their vocabulary, and dictatorship is the norm, leading to a nation in turmoil.
And where democracy reigns, the people's view is often ignored for the sake of a trend that is not logical. Even democracy does not encourage us to seek God and His word for the answer to our all that we could be.
