I know many of us are caught up in the events of our Country today. The economic, political and social issues are a bit overwhelming. It is a reality that must be delt with but it is also a lesson we can all learn from. It proves the point that we do value ourselves through monetary and materialistic possessions. We think our worth is what we have in the bank, and that my friends is ludicrous. Many out there are depressesd, stressed out and angry because they place all their beliefs in the world, so when things begin to crumble they have nothing to fall back on. Think about it, how strong is you life foundation. What values do you live by that support and strengthen your walk in this world. Are you going to let the negative news and the panic driven media cause you to give up and throw in the towel?
I don't think so. We are better than that. We are a great country, built on values given to us from our Lord God the Father. If you don't believe this read the Declaration of Independence. Maybe what is happening today in this Country is a good thing. This pain we all feel could be a fuel of passion. It may energize us all with an intensity to change and arouse us from spiritual lethargy. These problems we are facing are not a punishment; what i think they are is the wake up call from God so we can begin incorporating His words and values back into our lives.
There is a scripture in Luke 12:22 that i feel will uplift you and help you put a better perspective on what is going on in the world today. If you are not a believer in spirtuality or God, just read the following with an open heart and mind and see the truth within the words.
"So I tell you, don't worry about the food you need to live, or about the clothes you need for your body. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothes. Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest, they don't have storerooms or barns, but God feeds them. And you are worth much more than birds. You cannot add time to your life worrying about it. If you cannot do even the little things, then why worry about the big things?
God clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today but tomorrow is thrown into the fire. So how much more will God clothe you? Don't have so little faith? Don't always think about what you will eat or what you will drink, and don't keep worrying. All the people in the world are trying to get these things, and your Father knows you need them. But seek God's kingdom, and all the other things you need will be given to you."
