Fear will not win the day!
Fear.....Are you living it today? Are you aware that it controls your life? For some, fear is a term relating to a violent experience or maybe an abusive relationship; all real and true but the fear I am talking about is the one that paralyzes your life, the one that dominates the direction of your life. It is so ingrained in your being that you would not believe me when I tell you it controls almost every decision you make. This fear is the most dangerous for it infects the soul over time; it has allies throughout the world sending coded messages with hypnotic lies and deceptive words. Its strength grows and unites us together into believing that its core values are true . Its Generals have paraded us into prison cells that we do not recognize as such. The blinders we have built deceive us into seeing this prison cell as an oasis, a truth, a sanctuary. Why? Because most of us are here! So you wonder now what am I talking about. What fears do I speak of? You think this does not relate to you! The fear I speak of is the one that tells you; I am no good, I could never do that, why should I take that chance, its to risky, no one loves me, nothing ever good happens to me, this is my life and I accept the cards dealt to me, its to late in life to try, I am not smart enough, I don't have the strength, its not worth the effort, I’m to fat, to small, to big, to ugly, to handicapped, not loved, not liked, to abused, to hurt. Did i cover most of them? These are what we say to ourselves every day and as we do this they build strength, they build walls preventing us from our true self, our right to prosper, to live in peace, to love, to give, to dream. Just because everyone around you lives this way does not mean it is right. I know it is not easy to change this way of thinking. Most of your life consists of this dialogue but to move forward, to see improvement you must incorporate more positives, more love, more goodwill into your daily thinking. Have patience and determination and over time you will see results, you will feel better and begin having a better outlook on life. Don’t let fear tell you otherwise. Don’t let that voice inside feed you excuses of doubt and disbelief for if you do then realize fear has won and you are not controlling your life.
Its funny how life will give you examples or situations on topics you are thinking or talking about, such as fear. While watching Balboa, a scene between Father and Son related directly to fears i speak of. One is the pure fear of fighting and competition the other is the controlling and blaming fear of how one perceives their own life. The words that follow are pure and from the heart that many fathers and sons may have.
”Son, its time to be your own person and take on this world, but somewhere along the line you changed, you stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you're no good, you'll never amount to anything. Things got hard so you looked for someone or something to blame like a big shadow. Listen, the world can be a tough place to live in and I don’t care how tough you are but it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently as long as you let it. You, me and nobody else can hit as hard as this world can, but it’s not about how hard you get hit it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what your worth then go out and get what your worth, but you have to be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you want to be because of him, her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that."
Sometimes Rocky can say it better than any of us. Even though it's just the movies his life lesson is a teaching we can all use in our lives.
