Memories

What is a memory?
Memories are how we keep track of past events. They help us recognize a friend or a foe. They remind us of the laughter in our lives, and they remind us of our pain. Memories are written on the mirror in our mind and we reflect on our memories often. They are the pictures that we take with our mind’s eye throughout our life and then use these pictures to determine how we will respond when situations arise that remind us of the past memory.
Our beliefs are deeply tied to our memories. In fact personal beliefs spring from our memories. We are hardly aware of how our mind uses the memory process because we are not aware of how our mind works. If we want to understand why we believe and behave a certain way, or why someone else does, then the memory system will have to be examined at as a source of personal belief and behavior.
How the mind stores memory
The mind works much the same as a camera does when it is recording history in that it has the ability to freeze a frame and save it. Try to remember the first physical recording that you have. Most people have a hard time remembering things before a certain age, then, all of a sudden, a memory springs to life. This is a memory of our first physical experience. As this memory is examined, it is the first self aware or body experience that the individual had. There are many more to come, and each picture that is taken becomes a part of the warehouse of the past that the mind uses as a reference as to how to have a physical experience.
The Being level of mind
At the Being level of mind, the mind is not self aware, it is aware of wholeness. Up until the first self aware moment captured in the memory of the person who is now having a physical experience, the mind is still reliant on whole awareness for its reality. So it could be said that the person is Being whole. At a closer look, we can see that before the mind becomes totally self aware, it is not dependent on time. In other words the memory of the awareness of the, at this point, baby does not look at a clock to determine if he/she is hungry, wants to play, wants to be comforted, or etc. The memory of time is non-existent in the mind of the child, so when it is hungry, it is Being hungry. When it wants to play, it is Being playful, and etc. Here, it is seen that doing is the outcome of the Being. The child has not learned yet that to be, one must do first. This is called innocence. Innocent memory deals with the Being level, and also whole awareness.
The shift to time
Shifting to self awareness can only be experienced in time, because whole awareness or eternity is not time based. So time awareness is physical awareness and physical awareness comes from experiences that have been learned in time so they are linked and perform a dance that is not in harmony with Being or whole awareness, and what is known in eternity as innocence.
Once we begin shifting into self awareness our belief system shifts into fragmented beliefs that are based on the memories learned in time. These memories are written on the walls of the body because the body is part of the physical reality and physical reality is as much a part of time as spirit is tied to eternity. The memories of time based experience begin to lead us slowly but surely away from our spiritual nature, until at last we are totally dependent on fragmented, time based physical memories based on experiences that have nothing to do with our Being, but instead regulate behavior or doing.
Behavior
Behavior is not who we are, it is what we do. Who we are is spiritual, and what we do is physical. When we judge behavior it is because our physical experience has taught us that someone else’s behavior or our own is out of sorts with individual self awareness and is therefore bad. This judgment makes behavior real in our own mind, and does not even consider the Being except that behavior has possibly labeled us or another as “being” bad. At a spiritual level, it is impossible to “be” bad, so this is sin. Trying to do something impossible according to Spiritual Law is what is known as sin. In the first place, we are spiritual Beings, in the second place what we do with the physical body has no effect on eternity whatsoever so therefore is unreal. Being sinful merely reflects the unreal self aware memories that have been stored in the body that are attached to time, which began in the past and we are still carrying as if they were still applicable today. Is it any wonder why much of the world is depressed, sick, in pain, unhappy, conflicted, stressed, etc?
Body learning
Once the body has been filled with memories of time based experiences, it stops learning and depends upon the past to determine the present and the future. Because these memories are not in alignment with Spiritual Law, and because the mind is creative in nature, it incorrectly uses beliefs based on false memory to create with. If our memories or beliefs are way off kilter, then our life becomes very destructive, either internally or externally. Even if they are not way off kilter, we cannot escape the “sin” of making memories without the constructive creative process. In the end we all pay the ultimate price because our memories are distorted and the wages of sin is death so we all eventually experience the seeming finality of death. But this too is a belief that is stored in false memory, so even death, in the realm of spirit, is not a viable threat.
Our real memory
We have become so accustomed to using false memory to help us get through life; we have forgotten that there is another way of remembering. This way of remembering reconnects us to our Being level of mind where our spiritual nature awaits us. These memories remind us of our real Home where there are other Laws that teach the truth. These memories are the ones we share with God.
The miracle
The miracle is misunderstood when we place it under the fragmented memory learned in time. Under this false memory learned in time, we try to make the miracle something it was never intended to be. The miracle is to be used to heal the mind, not the body. Once the mind is healed, the body follows suit. If we are trying to get the miracle to heal the body, we are trying to misuse its purpose. In order to use the provision of the miracle, it must be used properly. Distortion is not acceptable in eternity.
The miracle has the ability to restore us to wholeness by showing us the exact moment when we departed from whole awareness into self awareness and fragmented our Being with a false memory. The miracle has the ability to restore our memory to the wholeness of God, but we must be willing participants in the process.
It is up to us to embrace the idea that there is something that we do not know. Our willingness to do this is all that is necessary to begin the process of moving us beyond our false learning that we hold so dear in our memory. God placed another Voice in our mind to direct us and help us find our false associations that we have unwittingly tried to make real. Reality does not dwell in what is false; it dwells in what is real. The opportunity for us to use miracles is now open to mankind. Learn how to use this provision that has been made for us during this trying time. The outcome of miracles is cumulative in effect, and will change the world.
Changing your mind means changing your memory. Take the Hand of Heaven and allow this Hand to lead you to your salvation. Everything is in place waiting for your return. Another memory of Heaven awaits those that are willing to let go of what they think they know. Within this new memory is life and the ability to heal the world. What will you do?
