How many of us are actually worrying ourselves sick? How many of us are losing sleep? How many of us are getting stomach ulcers because of connections to mind and body? These are things we should be thinking about. Even anger can send our blood pressure skyrocketing. We're like champagne bottles ready to "blow" once uncapped. Statistics say that prolonged state of anger bottled up inside ourselves is often responsible for what they call "essential hypertension," a form of chronic high blood pressure which has no apparent physical cause.
I am no exception. I worry about the weather, the economy, others as well as my own family. We have a lot of decisions to make just to survive comfortably. Indecision and worry can take its toll on our body, love life and our disposition. We all have worries, fears, hopes and despairs. We as the possessor of organs must do some preventative maintenance. Maybe, we should spend more time wearing a smile for our health. Smile when your look into a mirror or someone else's eyes. It is worth a little time and effort to exchange that look of grim determination for something a little more appealing and healthy for everyone's sake. Smile as though your health depended on it!" Below is a list of of ideas to get you out of the blahs into a joyous mood:
Enjoy your children while they are still young
Be an optimist
Have positive expectations
Learn to listen
Be honest and direct
Live in the moment
Laugh as often as possible
Get in tune with nature
Find your passions and pursue them
Honor your body and it's intuitions
Be true to your spirit, your passions and your God
Don't let procrastination bite you in the butt!
Don't let fear or failure hold you back
Get enough sleep
Don't waste energy on activities that seem urgent but aren't important. Choose instead to spend time on activities that are deeply important, even if they don't seem critical. In other words, if you're spending all your time putting out fires and never getting to the things that really matter, it could cost you your health. We can all get in the habit of choosing joy over anger and fretting over things we have no control over.
Have a great day and smile.
