To be perfectly honest, I'm a little depressed today. I came across this simple video on Validation. Writers like me don't get too much immediate gratification or validation for our many, many hours writing, revising and writing again. We often make up our minds that we are as good as we are going to get, and quit trying because of indecision. Indecision is unbelief and unbelief is fear. It is fear that disables our inborn creativity. I'm pretty good at writing each day. I do suffer from depression and take medication. Some days are worse than others and I stay in bed a lot with chronic pain.

I try setting goals for myself every day. Write one article. Write one poem. Or revise today. While setting goals is a positive step for reinforcement, I have to be careful not to limit my potential by setting them too low. Pushing ourselves is essential for growth. Where do our ideas for writing come from? Edison believed that he got some of his best ideas from a source outside himself. Once, when he was complimented for a creative idea, he disclaimed credit, saying that “ideas are in the air”, and if he had not discovered it, someone else would have. I like this thought.
I'm not suggesting you climb a mountain. This can be a dangerous thing to do if it is far outside your expertise. We can fail a lot when we get overzealous. Sometimes, if we're lucky, shattering our own self-limits will have an impact on someone else's life. I think we as bloggers are beginning to realize, we're not just writing, we're enlightening each other's load by writing.
I'm writing for my own therapy right now. We have to get creative when writing for our own healing. It really works! Try it yourself. Writing spontaneously from the tip of your head. No plans, no prethinking. And, who knows... you might even start a happy habit helping others. Aristotle tells us every human has a need to know. He wrote about this over two thousand years ago but it is still true today.

Most of us want our children to have more education, more opportunities and a better life than us. I imagine there are only about ten percent of people who never want to learn, ten percent who know it all, and eighty percent of others that want to learn to improve, to get more living out of life and to share their good fortune with others. Dr. J. B. Rhine, head of Duke University’s Parapsychology Laboratory says, “that there is a capacity for acquiring knowledge that transcends the sensory functions.” Many great thinkers of all ages including Emerson believe there is one mind common to all individual men. We're all a family. As a matter of fact Emerson compared our individual minds to the inlets in an ocean of universal mind. Kind of poetic, don’t you think? My mom taught me to believe what you can’t do and want to do, you find a way.

When we pick up a pencil it is for calibrating not dialing a phone. We analyze everything with no exception. We have faith there is an answer otherwise we would not feel so excited. We’re gold seekers out in the desert with a hat for shade and pick for digging. We specialize in making the invisible visible with what we know. Like William Blake says “If the sun and moon should doubt, they’d immediately go out.”

We do not doubt that we are writers. We turn our questions into written expression. Unfortunately, we can appear a little dingy because we occasionally have to dump practical information for learning new stuff. We lose our glasses, our keys, and forget where we put our coffee. Those misfortunes of yesterday we bury beneath faith and belief that we can ultimately overcome given time and persistence. I feel a little better but I think I'll take a nap soon. Just a little more blogging to do!!!
