A few thoughts about Thanksgiving.

Well- it is Thanksgiving again. Turkey, dressing, family etc. Thanksgiving. As I reflect on that, I see that it is a interesting word. The first part is Thanks. There really is much to be thankful for. Even in this economy. Yet I would like to go deeper. Thanks.Thanks. Let me think. To me it means  reminding myself of the times that were hard. Yes, all of us have had those.Remember if we were sick and how wonderful it felt when we felt better? But if you are like me, I forget about that. I go on with my daily life and I forget about when things weren't as good and how great it was not be sick. Now I would like to remember those times, and thank God for not being sick  now.Or the times when we were down and out and someone helped us. When we get back on our feet sometimes it is hard to remember when our self esteem was very low.Yes, much to be thankful for. Now the giving part. You probably know what I am going to say. That's right. Now we give what we have been given.Let this not be just another thanksgiving where we have a good time, but forget our spiritual growing. Will you try with me to have a thansgiving every day?I know- it may sound kind of corney- but isn't there some truth in what I am saying?I am giving you what I am giving myself. So - let's live it!
