Miss New York, a beautiful cat, comes to live with a lonely sick man. Their friend has a welcoming celebration.
When Patricia Walden throws a shower for her friend Junior Young, the atmosphere is joyful.. Colored Balloons fill the room. Everyone enters with a smile, a happy greeting or a belly laugh. The food is delicious. Patricia has been a cook on a Mississippi river boat for years and her culinary skills are well known.
The guest of honor sits in a rocking chair, still weak from brain surgery and radiation, but as eager and excited as an expectant mother. After all, he is an expectant father and his baby is a fantastic elegant bright colored long-haired, fluffy Calico cat known as Miss New York. Although she does not attend the celebration, photos of her are passed around so that all can see the real guest of honor, the cat who is coming to fill the empty spot in Junior's life.
The crowd is giving him advice on how to take proper care of a cat and telling antecdotes of their own experiences with their pets.
This elaborate affair is not only a fiesta to honor the coming of a beautiful feline, it is also the means to see that Miss New York has everything she needs to be comfortable in her new home.
Junior has been sick for sometime and unable to work so even though he has long wanted a pet, he has convinced himself he can not afford one. Then Patricia gets the great idea of a Cat Shower. She leaves a list of New Cat needs f at the Local Pet store so everyone can see what is needed and avoid duplication.
Everyone has a grand time. Junior and Miss New York get everything they need to set up Cat Keeping and Patricia proves that it sometime takes a village to raise a cat.
