Idaho Missionary Compiles Cultural Stories
Author Diana Baird, a missionary from Meridian, Idaho, has gathered a plethora of stories from her days in the remote culture of Papua. Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, Mama Dai Fell Through the Floor, and Other Cultural Missionary Stories releases nationwide this week.
While serving as a missionary, Baird experienced action-packed fun, adventure, laughter, heartache, tears, and discouragement. Her collection of short stories is full of memories from her personal journals kept while serving in Indonesia. Baird uses true life stories from her first few years of experiencing language and culture in Papua as a personal challenge for readers who say they could never live in a foreign country.

While at home in Meridian, Idaho, Baird remains active in ministry, serving as a board member of an Indonesian non-profit ministry supporting national Indonesian missionaries. Baird and her husband, Ron, have also founded an American non-profit organization, Beyond Cultures International, supporting foreign missions. Baird has written many stories which have been used in literacy classes to encourage reading for children and adults in Papua.
