Through the writing of this article, I've tried to connect the following concepts, bearing in mind the XXI century and the current educational scope: distributed cognitions, Teaching English as an International Language and collaborative project work.

In this article, I will begin by elucidating the meaning of the term distributed cognitions within in opposition to the notion of cognition as a individual phenomenon, to later, be able to explain what it implies in the education of twentieth first century, specifically in the area of teaching-learning English as an International Language, spelling out in detail the importance of comprehending the connection between distributed cognitions, the strategies to consider and some issues related to the global impact in our society. Subsequently, I will expound what researchers consider should be the approach to take into consideration, namely, project work in connection to distributed cognitions. It is in this way that after the corresponding analysis, I will finish exposing the close connection found between both suggestions –that of distributed cognitions along with the teaching –learning of an L2 by collaborative problems to be solved-, and its effects on the educational scope.
