You've got some great ideas, or you wouldn't be reading this. Most people are content to live safe and passive lives. Most people dread doing anything outside of their comfort zones. Most people are loath to create anything. (But they sure love to be critics!)
The truth is that creating something is just the beginning. Most people overlook the importance of communication. Sure, if you're doing well enough and you've got an agent and publicist to do all the heavy lifting for you, this isn't an issue. You can hide out in your mansion creating your masterpieces, a hand if off to your editor to do all the final touches, and then wait for the checks and the interview requests.
However, only a few people get to that level. And they don't get there by accident. They get there by hard work. Not just in the creation, but in the expression. That's why you've not only got to be a creator, but you've got have the confidence to express the quality of your work to others.
Most people hate the idea of sales, and they hate the idea of being salespeople even more. But if you want to get your name out there, you've got to push your name. You've got to push your brand, you've got to push every single thing you can create.
Why is it like this? Because anybody and there brother can be a writer these days. Everybody thinks they have a unique story to tell. If you tell people you're a writer, they'll likely say, "Oh! Me too!"
The barrier to entry is to incredibly low that there are hundreds if not thousand of courses and gurus telling you how to strike it rich on Kindle. Which means Kindle is overrun by junk. I know this isn't a very nice thing to say, and it certainly isn't politically correct, but it's a fact of today's marketplace.
This means that you've got to differentiate yourself from all the other wanna-be writers out there. The ones who think they can slap together a couple hundred pages, and become a best selling author.
You know it takes a lot more work than that. If you've read this far, you know that creating a work of art is just the first step. You know you've got to tell everybody you possibly can, through blogging, social media, and yes, face to face.
The more people you tell, the better your chances. Now more than ever.
Are you willing? Are you willing to keep going to reach the massive success you deserve?
