REDMAP: The Enemy Within
Why bother to cheat, lie, steal, and stuff ballots when you can just redraw voting districts that favor your political party? After the 2010 Census, do you know where your district went?
It seems incredible but a bright 3
rd grader today with a computer and downloadable software could—at least on paper—lay out a blueprint for taking control of the United States House of Representatives and many state legislatures. Gerrymandering software is
available. While that would make for an interesting class project, a project called Redmap is real, and those behind it are hell bent on taking control of state and national legislatures as well as the White House. Moreover, they want to install ideological puppets as legislatures who will do their bidding. Their purpose is to pass a legislative agenda that reflects a very narrow ideology that the American public has shown in poll after poll it rejects. What’s more, they are well on their way to accomplishing their goals.
Redmap is a project to gerrymander enough state voting districts by redrawing voting maps to assure Republican control of state legislatures as well as the electoral college votes in Presidential elections. It seeks to permanently rig American elections so that their hand-picked puppets remain in control—in spite of the will of the people and in spite of how we vote. And it is bankrolled by the super-rich to accomplish its sinister plot.
What is their agenda? It is to reduce the size of government by dismantling many of its functions and programs. They would eliminate Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, all health care programs supported by government funds, reverse Roe v Wade, ban all abortions, while installing judges at all levels throughout the land to assure biased decisions emerge in all critical cases. Ultimately, we would become a plutocracy with but two classes: the ultra-poor and the ultra-rich. We would have a government of right-wingers, by right-wingers, and for right-wingers. Underlying it all is the belief that the Bible and Christianity—as interpreted by the right-wingers—are all that anyone needs to know and live by.
Historically, this approach has been tried before. It was the formation of a church/state alliance that ruled Europe for nearly 1000 years. Compliance with church doctrine was enforced by a series of Inquisitions in which civil tribunals were set up for prosecuting the “crime” of heresy, where personal property was taken; innocent men, women, and children were tortured, imprisoned, and burned at the stake—all in the name of religion. Perhaps as many as 5 million persons suffered in the hands of the Inquisitors. It was the very form of government that our early settlers ran away from in seeking freedom. It was, and it remains, the most evil period of religious tyranny in human history.
Redmap needs to be stopped cold in its tracks. The United States Attorney General needs to be awakened to all their activities and asked to declare them to be in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Let them make their case in court as to why they believe that rigging American elections is Constitutional.

My personal experience with gerrymandering was with my Congressman when I moved here in 1982. I was getting monthly newsletters from Tom DeLay showing him glad handing people and touting pork barrel projects for Texas. Fast forward twenty years this do-nothing congressman has tenure and has become Speaker of the House. His district had become quite muddled with all the Blacks and Hispanics moving westward in the city of Houston, so he single-handedly goes to the state legislature and comes up with a brilliant redistricting for Texas.
As a result, my district looks more like a convoluted snake than a salamander and my Congressman is from southeast Houston while I reside on the Southwest side. Delay conveniently made sure that he picked up Clear Lake and the Johnson Spacecraft Center (his pet project) as well as growing Pearland and other outlying communities of white flight in Fort Bend County. This assured him of a purely Republican district while devastating other districts in the greater Houston area.
As we know with most well laid plans, he was eliminated by another Republican in the primary and never got to reap the benefits of his gerrymandering. Likewise, I hope the people will get wise, and make sure that gerrymandering is ended by creating sensible districts that include all members of society and not those just for the rich or privileged class that you described so well in your article. The Electoral College needs to be done away with altogether in favor of the popular vote for presidential elections.
