Did You Know?

The average income in the United States today is $103,000 per year. That’s a fact. We have 140 million income earners who make a total of $14.45 trillion dollars. And here is the 3rd grade math to back that up:

$14.45 X 10^12 / 140 X 10^6 = $103,321

Our national net worth is $97 trillion. That comes to $970,000 for every household:

$97 X 10^12 / 100 X 10^6 = $970,000

So, if you earn less than $103,000 per year, or your household has a net worth of less than $970,000 you are below average on the socio-economic scale. There’s no need to thank me. Informing you is what I do.

Oh, in case you are wondering, the median income is $20,000, and the median net worth is hovering near zero. Median is the 50 percent point. One-half make more, one-half make less. So if you find yourself above the median, but below the average, welcome to the Middle Class! You are a dying breed. Don’t thank me. Thank the super rich. Taking from you is what they do.
