• Our voting methods across the country need to be revamped and streamlined under the canopy of justice so that everyone who is eligible to vote can do so with ease.  Automatic registrations are already in place in Oregon.  That method can be adopted across the land.  Also making voting day in November a national holiday makes a lot of sense.  Voting is an  affirmation of citizenship not something to be readily denied.   

• You will have the opportunity to lead the way to educational justice with tax supported tuition for everyone with the talent and the drive to push on with their educational pursuits.  Four years of college or trade school for everyone is the need.  An educated society beats an ignorant one every time.  

• You will also have the opportunity to extend health care coverage and justice to every resident in a single-payer program with all the economies of scale that can bring down costs.  A healthy society is a productive society.  

• Employment opportunities cry out for justice.  We need to begin a modernization of our infrastructure for the repair our highways and bridges; also railways, seaports, airports, and all the interconnecting links with more built-in safety methods.  Our present infrastructure is a national embarrassment.  

• Nature and justice are warning us that we need new clean renewable energy sources.  New incentives for R&D efforts need to be established to those ends.  Mother Nature knows best.  

• Excessive inequalities in incomes and wealth are nearly incomprehensible—and they are very costly.  The top 1 percent now has more than the bottom 99 percent combined!  We all produce our wealth, yet one-half the population does not get to share in it at all.  These trends are so serious that they call for dramatic, incisive, and decisive action in the name of justice. We need to modify the tax code, in particular the inheritance laws so that they discourage family dynasties.  Inherited wealth over $5 million needs to be taxed significantly from its present $50 billion per year to at least $500 billion per year.  That new level would be taxing inherited wealth at about 8 percent, or one-half the rate of income.  We need to establish a one-time low tax for repatriating corporate profits from overseas locations; also lower the corporate tax rate by half so that US corporations are competitive in international markets and for depressing consumer prices; We need to  set a transaction tax to reduce speculative trading in securities markets and for collecting an overdue tax from that source; and we need to change the Federal Reserve’s charter so the Fed has control over how new money gets into circulation for economic growth. 

The best way to pay for these and any program is to restart the pay-go provision of law that we had in the 1990s.  All programs with a cost component need estimates from the Congressional Budget Office and the source of those needed funds need to be identified and built into the law that authorizes that program. 

Once this commission has done its work, you and your team will need to go on the road and win the overwhelming support of the public.
