In a world that is racked with serious issues such as war; global warming; massive migrations and immigrations; with malnutrition; slavery; energy shortages; gross inequalities of income and wealth; pollution of our lakes, streams, atmosphere and oceans; trade imbalances; geo-political clashes; undereducation; lying , cheating, and stealing on all fronts; ideological zealots; religious dictators; sexually transmitted diseases; inaccessible health care; lack of clean water and food shortages; overpopulation; torture, racism, hedonism, and me-first-ism…now we also have two dunderheads with their grubby hands on the nuclear “Launch” buttons. What could possible go wrong within this quagmire of volatility, wrapped in muck, and ready to ignite into a new Big Bang reality of extinction?

We know that neither of these two have a clue about how to solve any issue in the above list. Their choices of thugs, misfits, and profiteers each has assembled around them were known as the logical outcomes to those of us with functioning brains long ago. But not to fear. When things go really bad, each of them can always reach for those Launch buttons.

Perhaps it is karma at work. With all the above imbalances, it could be the universe’s way of allowing mercy killings as we all rise up together in plumes of soot and ashes in a series of cascading mushroom clouds while the angels all watch and sing “Nearer My God to Thee.” After all, we, the rational 7.5 billion Earthlings who elected or otherwise looked the other way as two simpletons took power much like taking candy from babies. Yes, it’s our fault, and we deserve whatever we get. Elections have consequences, stupidity has consequences, and brainwashing has consequences. And once humanity is caught up in the deathgrip of that iron triad, the end is sure to follow.

Put another way: It’s 7.5 billion of us against just 2 of them. And as they say, never underestimate the power of stupid people acting in large numbers. If we cannot handle two dunderheads, we clearly cannot help ourselves.
