The October Surprise
In what was building up to be an avalanche of mail-in votes reflecting a nationwide shift in sentiment toward Biden and away from Trump has now morphed into an outright mockery of law and order, and a scheme to murder perhaps 3 million American and U.S. residents. Trump named a conservative lady to fill the space of a judicial legend even before that legend’s body was buried. Her first assignments: Help kill Obamacare and nullify Trump’s expected Presidential loss. Meanwhile fake ballot boxes are showing up in California, while real mail boxes are disappearing in droves across many other states all under the direction of Donald Trump. He has also installed an army of 50,000 poll watchers with instructions to disturb or disrupt legitimate voting so the watchers can record a wide variety of their own misdeeds and report them as evidence that the election was fraudulent.
On a different front, the infection rate and deaths from the corona virus are increasing across the country. Trump’s new course of action: Do nothing. Let people die in higher and higher numbers until a “herd immunity” sets in. This is the hope that with an infection rate of perhaps 60 or 80 percent among the unprotected, perhaps 3 million of them will die while those who survive might develop an immunity against the virus. And when a real vaccine is developed, all survivors willing to take the vaccination will have a longer-term survival probability.
That “solution” could be justified as cruel but humane c. 250,000 BC. Today, it is either a plot to commit mass murder, or the confused workings of a deranged mind with very limited thinking capacity. Trained scientists caution us that wearing masks, maintaining 6 ft. social distancing, avoiding large crowds, washing our hands often, and waiting for an effective vaccination are the best measures we can take. Donald Trump is not a trained scientist, nor is he a logician, nor even a moderately intelligent being.
Listen to reason. We all deserve better. Vote him out of office before he can do more damage.
Added: As of 10/16/2020 more than 20 million mail-in ballots have been received in 45 states and Wash. DC. That is an increase of 6 million in one day. That total is expanding exponentially. Not a problem for us, but it gives Trump a lot of ballots from which to build a completely false argument that the election is already rigged against him.

Our Republican governor last week announced that there would be only one drop off box in each county in the state. Fortunately, we can use the mail up until a few days before election day. That has been overruled and there will be 12 drop off boxes in the county and votes mailed on election day will still counted.
My peeve is that every polling place is surrounded by thousands of little signs that no one pays any attention to and people who accost you on the way from your car to the line with all kinds of entreaties to vote for their candidate. They should be banned from being anywhere near the polling site. At least the people inside seem to be very professional and unbiased, politically.
