Remembering January 6, 2021
How devoid the mind that cannot grasp the concept of freedom. Night vigils will be held at numerous locations across America on the anniversary of that date when the enemies of freedom sought to rob us of our lives, our honor, and our right to choose.
Last January the halls of democracy withstood a violent battering at the hands of misguided, misinformed insurrectionists who believed they could steal an election and hand it over to Donald Trump, a man whose life has become synonymous with corruption. Let us hope that historians treat him fairly, and identity his correct place in it somewhere near the bottom of the swamp, a place that he mistakenly believed that others built, and he was chosen to drain.
Free elections do not always deliver our collective will; but they were never intended to deliver the greed, selfishness, and dishonor that our forebears fought so hard to overcome. Those who cannot see past the dishonor of thievery do not understand who we are, our history, nor our will to carry the torch handed to us by men and women who put their trust and faith in this land that we love. Let the glow of a million candles illuminate our true will, and with your help and mine, perhaps we can enlighten the minds of those who sought to replace our tentative democracy with dishonor, disgrace, and the destruction of our Constitution,
On this January 6, let us re-set our collective compasses, and resolve that we are still the land of the free and the home of the brave. We have always risen to confront and defeat the enemies who sought to attack us from afar. This time the enemy within has infiltrated our lives, our government, our institutions, and the halls of our democracy. This time they seek to erase our history and our sacred honor. This time they would stand logic and courage on their heads, while they call upon fakery and delusion to achieve their goals. This time we must stand together to show the world that we are the sons and daughters of those who set aside their differences, and with the sweat of their brows built America the Beautiful for us and for our posterity—today, tomorrow, and always.
