Allegiance to the Constitution of the

United States of America

We, the majority of citizens of the United States, declare with honesty and without reservations or with the aid of teleprompters, that we support our nation of, by, and for the people and our way of life. Despite imperfections we are a maturing democracy with far more strengths than flaws. Above all, it is our profound belief that we owe ourselves and each other the chance for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness free from tyrants, thugs, miscreants, and other misfits. We owe neither our trust, nor loyalty, nor our vote to any political party, person, or group who will not honor our Constitution.

We hereby reject all organizations, persons, and assemblages, including foundations, societies, ad hoc groups, institutions, and others by any name, format, collection, motivation, or purpose that do not accept our Constitution and our democratic form of government. We owe no loyalty or allegiance to any person or entity that stands in contradistinction to our form of government, our purpose, or our heritage. We reject plutocracies, monarchies, aristocracies, autocracies, church/state alliances, and all secret societies intent on destroying our country or our way of life. In particular, we stand foursquare against the Heritage Foundation and its alliance with the incoming Trump Administration. Such an alliance puts all other democracies around the world and our commitments to them in jeopardy.

We believe that trying to interpret our Constitution is now a very cumbersome endeavor and far removed from its original intentions from changes in language, science, medicine, technology, transportation, medicine, resource usage, institutions, education, immigration changes, and others. We do not trust lawyers with no special training in linguistics to search for meanings that were in use c. 1887. Textual originalism is a ploy that opens too many avenues to biases that make dishonest interpretations not only possible but nearly inevitable. As a consequence our Supreme Court is now a facilitator of disingenuous opinions that reflect narrow religious beliefs, or the desires of the ultra-wealthy, or corporations, while substituting their ill-informed opinions over those of experts in the scientific community.

We are also more a nation of principles than of laws. For example, no human being can memorize all the laws throughout our land. Nor should they try. But almost everyone can understand the six principles stated in the Preamble to our Constitution. As a refresher they are: 1) to form a more perfect union; 2) establish justice; 3) insure domestic tranquility; 4) provide for the common defense; 5) promote the general welfare; and 6) secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. Supreme Court decisions should first be guided by these principles rather than by a plethora of interpretations under the guise of textual originalism.

The survival of our nation as a beacon of hope is better linked to a legal system that first cradles and honors our Declaration of Independence; and that protects our rights for all, not as a vehicle for absurd opinions rendered 100 or more years ago for those who can afford to buy favoritism, and very little deliberation for those who cannot. We dare not let fake justice become a harbor for our wealthiest citizens and entities.
