EEK-A-BOO OF LIFE!

Have you ever participated in a

game of peek-a-boo with kids? You

start chasing the children. They run as

fast as they can. You run in different

directions looking for them, and the

more you try to run after them, the

more they try to run away from you,

until you say, “That’s it, I surrender!”

Now, try a different strategy. Sit

still for a while, you’ll notice that the

kids will get perturbed as to why you are not playing with them. Then, they’ll try to come out of

their hiding places; and the more you’ll wait, the antsier they’ll get. The more you are steadfast and

pretend you are not interested in the game anymore, the more they’ll come toward you. Soon these

children will start touching you and asking you why you are not participating in the game. Eventually,

you’ll catch them.

Gina:

All of these years, I was trying to chase my life. The more I ran after things, the more distant

the destination looked. I did this for a while only to realize that I wound up in a rat race, which

had the same theme—“run, run, run”. The only difference was different circumstances that were

getting me nowhere close to my destination, but closer instead to the road of stress, dissatisfaction,

and disappointment.

It took me many years to realize that to get somewhere, I had to slow down, take a step back,

and see things coming in my direction.

My Attitude Change

You may be wondering how I changed my thought process from taking things for granted to

appreciating little things in life.

Before, I would run after things. Now, I remain still in the moment,

and things come to me.

Suddenly, all good things

were pouring down and touching my life. Even if I pretended to close my eyes, I could feel their

presence around me; I could feel my heart giggling the same way as it does when my daughter

presence around me; I could feel my heart giggling the same way as it does when my daughter

is playing peek-a-boo with me. Life is great now that I have learned to stay still and feel things,

rather than run, run, run, and brush them away.
