Writing fantasy, it's sometimes difficult to come up with good names. I have a method that led me to some difficulties, but it sort of works, interested to see how others go about this.
I found that making up names for a fantasy novel was quite difficult at times but then I hit a strategy that got me in strife with the mother in law. She's forgiven me now, or at least I think she has??
Anyway, I used anagrams of people's names that I know. My mother in law, being from Scotland, is called Moira. I had a lovely witch in book 2 that needed to be named - the anagram I used was Ariome. Seemed to work well until I told her-that-must-be-obeyed.
After much apologizing - we are now talking, although I've had to move to England. Anyone else know of a good way of coming up with names. I'm writing a prequel at the moment and I only have so many friends. Perhaps you could post an anagram, not a rude one of course, of your name and I may include it in my next book.
