Learn why struggling authors need to be competitive in the market place with "STAND OUT" covers.

Learn why struggling authors need to be competitive in the market place with "STAND OUT" covers.

Ask any publishing company what makes a book sell and I guarantee you the publishing house will not say it’s the content of the book there are going to tell you it’s the “STAND OUT” book covers that sell the book.

Think about it when you go into a Barnes and Nobles, Borders or even if you are looking on an online bookstore, “What catches your attention to make you want to look at or purchase the book?” It is the cover of the book.

A winning Book Cover is everything. If you want your book to succeed and sell tons of copies then you need a creative design that stands out on your book to help make your book a bestseller.

Each year, businesses spend more than $50 billion on product packaging and design. They spend fifty billion, not for the products or for the wrapper used for the product, but fifty billion just for the design of the wrapper. This tells you something right here. Companies know that the product will not sell well if the wrapping does not interest the eye of the consumer. The same goes for the book world (publishing industry).

Have you ever heard the saying, "Don’t judge a book by its cover?" Well I am sorry to disappoint you, but in the book industry, everyone judges a book by its cover. No one reads the book before they make a buying decision. Consumers do not read it in the store. Did you know that even sales reps carry only the book covers and jackets to show bookstore owners/buyers while wholesalers and distributors say, “Just send us the cover copy.” All buying decisions are made from the illustration/design and the ad-sales copy on the outside of the book. Yes, book covers is everything to an authors if their goal is to succeed, profit from their book and become famous.

Here is another fact I bet you were not even aware of concerning book shoppers.  The bookstore browser averages less than eight seconds looking at the front cover and fifteen seconds reading the back cover. You must hook them immediately and keep them reading the back cover or they will put the book back on the shelf. There is the proof. In order to succeed you need a great book cover with a winning synopsis of the book on the back cover design of the book.

A professionally designed book cover can increase your income 4 to 5 times more than what you would have made if you designed it yourself. Book cover artists know what book covers sell and what book covers do not sell well. They also have a creative edge that most people do not have in them. They are able to see things from an artists view. We may look at a black squiggly line and see just a black squiggly line, but they may see a person struggling yearning to succeed. Artists see the world differently then the normal person that is why it is a good idea to have a book cover designed by a professional.

Good packaging sells products. It is used in the bookselling community to sell books as well. Have a professional use their imagination to help you create a winning cover.  Since everyone from the distributor, to wholesalers, to bookstore buyers, to the customer judges a book by its cover, give them what they want—a gripping cover that will persuade them to buy the book just by the looking at the artistic book cover designed by someone who knows what they are doing. A professional book cover artist will design a book cover that will encourage the buyer to buy the book. Why be a struggling author if you don’t have too. Be smart and invest in your future. Invest in a bestselling book cover that will turn you into a bestselling author.
