M' Aimer Pour Qui Ie Suis translated from French into English means "Love Me For Who I Am". This feature is about Loving Someone For Who They Are and Not What You Can Make Them Into To Fit Your Own Image.
I hope this article will encourage people to love your significant other, spouse, or child, for who they are and not what you image of them should be.
I am mentally handicap. I have learning disabilities, I have mental illness, i,e, depression and a mixed personality disorder. I am also compassionate, loving, and have no trouble for accepting a person just they are.
Most have trouble accepting me just as I am though.
I love people just as they are, and I expect the same. I guess that is unreasonable of me, but if I can do it. I expect other so call "normal" people to do it as well.
Sixteen months ago, I met who I thought was my idea soul-mate but was I ever wrong. Of course I still love this young man. I am a human-being with feelings and emotions. I can not simply turn my feelings, love, and emotions off like a light-switch like some people can do.
Well this young man really hurt me. He told me after so many months that certain things I do got on his nerves and he could not accept me as I am and love for me who I am and what I am.
I told him this," Persons with disabilities, don't need your pity and or sympathy. We need your understanding, love, and compassion." Perhaps, Robert is more emotionally handicap than the rest of us who have a handicap.
I have being mentally handicap all my life. It is harder to be mentally handicap than physically-handicap because of the stigmatism surrounding the misconcepts on mental Illness and all.
How can you explain to a society of people that mental illness, personality disorders and depression are illnesses of the mind and are no fault brain disorders.
Depression and mental illness is the most debilating of illnesses and all. People look at you and say this " I can not see anything wrong with you."
You say to these uneducated people " I have depression, learning disabilities, and a mixed personality disorder and they are keeping me from working full time".
Some people think it is just so simple to snap out of it.
Some people like Robert run away from it, rather than trying to understand you and accept you for what you are.
The Concept behind M'Aimer Pour Qui Ie Suis is this:
Unconditional love. The love that will allow you to love someone for who they are and what they are and without you trying to go in change them into someone you want them to be or to fit your image.
Look beyond the disability of that person. Look and see for yourself if persons with disabilities don't have more love in their hearts, more compassionate for people, and more understanding towards all.
The late Karen Carpenter has a song call "Love Me For Who I am" and Billy Joel has a song "Just The Way You Are" please listen to these songs.
Then please walk a mile in my shoes and then come back and say you understand what it is to be mentally handicap, educated, but misunderstood all your life due to ignorance and lack of education and information of mental illness and learning disabilities.
Just love me for who I am.
Below are the lyrics to the Late Karen Carpenter's Song:The Carpenters
Love Me For What I Am
We fell in love
On the first night that we met
Together
We've been happy
I have very few regrets
The ordinary problems
Have not been hard to face
But lately little changes
Have been slowly taking place
You're always finding something
Is wrong in what I do
But you can't rearrange my life
Because it pleases you
(*) You've got to love me
For what I am
For simply being me
Don't love me
For what you intend
Or hope that I will be
And if you're only using me
To feed your fantasy
You're really not in love
So let me go
I must be free
If what you want
Isn't natural for me
I won't pretend to keep you
What I am I have to be
The picture of perfection
Is only on your mind
For all your expectations
Love can never be designed
We either take each other
For ev'rything we are
Or leave the life
We've made behind
And make another start
