It doesn't take a lot to make your day brighter.

Today is a Red Letter Day:

As most of you know, I work from 12:30 AM till somewhere around 10:00 AM.  Every day, as I'm entering our neighborhood, there is a man walking along the road.  He's relatively short (I'm 6'4") and probably in his late 70's.  He walks with a perpetual scowl on his face.  I figure a guy like that has probably had a tough life, and has been pressed by the rigors of life, to be 'serious.'  In old age, 'serious' becomes a scowl.

It has been my goal for the past several months, to get the guy to respond to me.  Every day, as I drive by, I smile and wave.  Every day, he scowls back.  Today, he waved.

Okay, so it don't seem like much, but it means a lot to me.  My next goal is to get him to smile ... wish me luck.

The Best Things in Life

The best things in life cannot be gained;
nor can they be purchased.
The best things in life must be given
in order to receive them.
Love, friendship, respect, even a smile
must be given before they are returned.

Wonderful spiritual exercise. Bet you felt good afterwards. Can't buy that with money.

Some respond to my reviews. Jerry, below, no longer wants me to read his excellent writing and wouldn't speak to me if he saw me.. You are so right, Dallas.

Hey! I do that. People pass me by and I speak. some won't speak back. When I see them again, I speak. Some still won't speak back. It becomes a game with me, and I have always won the game, because eventually they all speak. I live in a apartment house, so I see the same people every day and new people are moving in. I speak.
