I read today that our President, the President of the United States of America, believes our constitution is a flawed document. He made those remarks during an interview. After I read it, I found myself sitting in my chair for the longest time with my mouth hanging open. I was aghast.
It takes an arrogant leader, with a definite agenda, to make remarks such as those. Our President, the Commander-in-Chief of our armed forces -- yes, the one man our soldiers look up to in order to feel they are fighting in the ugliest corners of the world for a just and meaningful cause. Our soldiers in Afghanistan, Korea, Germany, Iraq, Somalia and around the globe are fighting to preserve democracy and to protect a nation that has always been on the forefront of the battle for the preservation of freedom for all of mankind. Isn’t that what our constitution was written to protect, basic human freedoms?
When our founding fathers penned the constitution, I am convinced they were inspired by a divine authority, because what they wrote is filled with genius beyond what any of us can comprehend.
Throughout history, republics have come and gone, victims of corruption and a lack of the people’s will. But, mostly it was due to a weak constitutional government that was easily usurped by an emperor, dictator, or an unbridled military.
Do I need to name a few of those? How about the Roman Republic before Caesar, or the German Republic before Hitler, or the French Republic before Napoleon? What about Cuba before Castro or Iraq before Saddam Hussein? The list is endless.
Our constitution is not flawed. No. I beg to differ Mr. President. A flawed document was Carl Marks’s Communist Manifesto, or Hitler’s Mein Kampf.
Every four years the United States undergoes a peaceful revolution. We the people have the power to vote. Many don’t exercise that right because they have become complacent. But, be warned. When a president is allowed to say publicly that our United States Constitution is flawed, then America may have just stepped into the cauldron. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. All that is required is a basic knowledge of history to be able to see the delicate balance between democracy and autocracy is separated by nothing more than the will of the people. If the people's self determination becomes disillusioned, complacent, socially dependent, corrupt, or propagandized by the media, then without a doubt, our country could experience a coup, a take over, and there would be nothing we could do about it. You will wake up one morning and find out that congress has been disbanded, and that martial law has been declared and a curfew imposed on the entire citizenry.
How many times must it have happened in history before we realize it could easily happen here? We must stand up to the corruption that has recently become a cancer on our nation. We must stand up and, once again, become self reliant.
If fifty percent of our population depends on the government for a job, social security, or welfare, we will have lost our individuality, and therefore we are vulnerable to attack from within. Believe it or not, the economic benchmark I just sighted has nearly been reached. We must stand up and vote our government officials out of office who are not serving the people, and we must rid ourselves of a President who is brash enough to make negative statements about a form of government for which he was elected to protect.
The constitution is flawed? Who does he think he is?
