Yes...I was bullied back when I was in middle school in the 50's and 60's, but I think bullying back then wasn't so bad, as it is today.  In my day, I would just give the person doing the bullying, a punch in the nose, and the bullying would stop, but I don't think that is a good idea today, as so many people, today, are carrying guns, and violence is NOT the answer.  It's much more dangerous to be going to today's schools, than it was going to school in my days. 

Back in my days of the Old School, there was much more mutural-respect, than there is today.  The following short article, is a speech given by Carlos Vigil, who suffered from years of bullying, before he committed suicide.  The title of the newspaper article is as follows;

"Perils of bullying come home with
victim's speech"

"EDITOR'S NOTE; Carlos Vigil, 17, died July 16 after committing suicide in his Los Lunas home.  His family, says Carlos, endured years of bullying.  A week earlier, Carlos delivered this speech about bullying in school at the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs in North Carolina.  His father, Ray, said his son's speech 'brought down the house.'  Carlos' family made his speech available hoping to carry on his passion for educating others about the dangers and effects of bullying."

"Bullying affects millions of Americn students on a daily basis.  Nearly a third of American students are harassed, teased tormented and beaten every day. 

Although some of Americans don't view bullying as prominent danger...it is.  In fact...the side effects of bullying as a are the same of those who were abused as a child.  These side effects include low self-esteem, depression, and, in some cases, isolation, aggression and is some cases, lead to suicide. 

With this proposal, we would be combatting bullying at the source,...public schools.  It would federally funded schools to admit a policy on bullying that would mimic the given schools' asault and battery policy.  For example...in APS (Albuquerque Public Schools), the consequences of assault for a first offense is a mandorary three-day suspension.  This would mean that in APS, a student caught/proven to bully another would be suspended for three days for their first offense.

Another tactic this proposal enforces is school-based workshops that teach elementary students how to properly respond to bullying and why bullinging is an issue.  Delegates, I urge you to look past this proposal from the surface and look to the students affairs. 

Give the victims of bullying a voice.  Think of the boy in the back of your elementary school bus whose lunch is stolen by largert students, the little girl who is tormented at lunch for being overwight, the 1,000 students who won't wake up tommorow because they took their life as a result of bullying...thank you.

MY TWO CENTS; (opinions);  I don't think the source of bullying is the public schools.  I think the source of bullying begins with  millions of irresponsible and worthless PARENTS at home.  It's simple to understand...worthless parents produce worthless kids...and, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that...

Simply put...these type of kids are looking to get suspended...they don't want to be in school in the first place...  These bullies were probably NOT wanted by their parents in the first place...an accident comes to mind...a suspension is similar to a paid vacation...as the taxpayer's have to bare the costs...

The reader can use all the psychological terms he or she wants...but, bullying begins at home with the worthless parents, who don't teach their kids mutual-respect; responsibility; discipline; or  manners, etc.  Worthless parents want the teachers to do all this...
