And at the weekly weigh in...
Oh dear ...who wanted to get up this morning...not me that's for sure. Mr. Pussy cat was begging for freedom from his room in the basement, desperately screaming that his stomach was sure his throat was cut ...it being some hours by now since he had stuffed it with culinary treasure.
Hubby was going to Church so he was up and having the shower. Groan groan...that means he is going to be jumping on those scales very soon now. I can tell when I cuddle him he has lost weight....and I am always cuddling him. He will have lost and porky here will have to pretend delight. Well I do want him to lose weight he must lose weight for his heart health ...and I will be thrilled and relieved... but I need to lose some too......
Between the two of them, man and cat I am going to have to surface from my warm cocoon and face those scales. I just know I haven't lost a thing. I should have married a Masai hunter and followed around with him herding the cattle. Then I might have lost those pounds.....Instead ......Oh well, groan, time to move because the shower has stopped running and I want to be there to enjoy that grin when he reads his weight.
I plod out of the bedroom on my little flat feet rubbing sleepy dust from my eyes and putting on my glasses. Yes there's the wretch ready for the big moment. How can he be so brave.
Silence prevails ...first one foot, then the other...stand steady let the scales settle.........this is very serious. One needs to lose the first week or two to keep the momentum going .......reading the figure..........OMG......HE'S LOST, he's lost a full 5lbs. That is tremendous, that's stupendous, that's amazing, we are both so thrilled. No I keep this journey honest.....I carry a nasty little knot of envy inside myself as I jump in the shower. I wish I didn't; because weight loss for hubby means all good things for his heart, but that ugly little pixie is lurking in my brain and won't quite go away. Am I really this competitive?
Out of the shower and it is my turn.....I view the scales with distaste...nasty ugly things taking up good space on the floor like that. Ugh. Hateful household utility.
Oh well here we go.....One foot on...second foot on....stand steady while the scales settle.............Oh now look at that......after all that hard work ....the careful planning of meals, the extra exercise, the down right bravery of admitting to you all that I have turned into a little porky pig........the scales tell me OMG...I HAVE LOST WEIGHT....just like the beloved one, I too have gone down a full five pounds. We have lost exactly the same amount of weight. We are twins, we are legends ...this is a great day. Oh I shall just hug you all.
enjoyed the read!!
