We live in a Sick Society that laughs at people’s misfortunes.
If someone falls down, we laugh.
If a child gets run over by a big dog, we laugh.
If a tree branch knocks a lady off a bicycle, we laugh.
America’s Funniest Videos thrives on such things.
Chevy Chase said time and again that all he had to do was walk out and fall down and everyone would be laughing.
We checked. It’s True.
Cosmo Kramer did the same thing on Seinfeld.
Today he and Chase are quadriplegics, but they got a lot of laughs.
Fall down…people laugh.
A comedian these days really needs no jokes to make it big at a Comedy Club. All he has to do is ride out on a pair of roller skates and fall down. The laughs will be non-stop as he keeps falling again and again while trying to get up. It could be his entire routine.
He will get standing ovations as he crawls off-stage.
All comedy hopefuls dread following a “Fall Guy.”
How sick we must be to laugh at other people’s mishaps. How sick a child’s parents must be to sit around with a camera waiting to film such things saying, “Get on the Teeter Totter with your fat brother.”
Lets see a show of hands for anyone who never laughed at Chevy Chase or Kramer.
One thing is certain…You do not have a sense of humor.
You struck home with this one. During our annual Christmas party, the Peru born head of carpentry played me as part of a parody of our vice president and directors. His shtick was to walk haltingly across the stage on the way to the restroom with a cup of coffee spilling most of it in the process. He nailed me perfectly, but I got a feeling when everybody screamed with laughter that he might've gone a bit too far.
I live in a [sic] society. It seems every time I put together an article, story or even a book, as I start to read it later I have to go back and put [sic] here and [sic] there. Sometimes I wish I could sic a dog after my spoken words that Dragon gets wrong in my writing. So I guess I better get my rabies shot to stop my wandering words forever.
