I wonder of a God who can redeem his justice over man with guilt, constant guilt.I wonder too of a God who is just and yet those babies starve and are born with little chance for survival. Is there justice here too?
I wonder of a God who sees beauty in all things, creates them equal and yet some have brains outside their heads and live no more than hours.Is this equal?
I wonder of heavens and the vastness of territories undiscovered and too large to fathom.Is one supreme being responsible? Is a black hole a heaven?
I wonder of religions that preach if I'm not Mormon (for example) then I'm surely damned to hell. Then I wonder of the Catholic compromise in hell and heaven and the purgatory part where surely most all politicians and lawyers dwell. Was that made for them? One where you work your way up or fall into a chasm of hell fire and damnation forever if you don't change. ( How long is forever? )
Is this a second chance?
I wonder of lies, confessions and being told to say a few Hail Mary's , be forgiven, then you can start over the next day. What kind of religion allows mistakes over and over and what does a just God say of this lack of control?
I wonder of the marriage of religion and politics and the games that are certainly okay under this guise. The domain of the Pope., the Almighty who gives his life for the Catholic church but, rumor has it, finances gun running.
I wonder of the commercialism of religions and how God feels about regenerating pink hair dye and vavoom hair; Cadillac's and obscene homes; preachers waiting and taking prostitutes; the sale of redemption for a few retirement checks and the potions peddled on medias that for "a few bucks God will heal you".I wonder about that!
Where is a supreme God in this? Surely he's insulted by the power of men in sheep's clothing pushing the wares of heaven for a monetary price.
Then the wars and the lost children of our society and the Klan and Black Muslims; the hate groups that pedal religion to be tax exempt all under the guise of their God and their religion.
What has religion become? Not hope. Greed? Yes!Not security for the soul, for a price. No! Media hocus pocus and sensationalism ,perhaps?
I think the God dwells within and that today over centuries of misdemeanors in religions and the hype it all garners from Hollywood to the White House. That real religion is dead.
I feel that few know that God is in the heart, the mind and that some (are they 'chosen') are more susceptible to faint voices from Heaven. What is this?
Its the oasis (the island) where the id and all its energies go when death is a relief. It's the consciousness; the focus of the mind and its power that lays down the body and releases the energy to muse and drink forever the life of a God from within.
Each person of a just God, with the passions and compassions of a true heart;the one that never envies but accepts, refines and moves on to a positive role in life;is willed heaven of their making. After all, if I think heaven for eternity would be a wonderful and fresh, beautiful and lush island;then the next person who left for their heaven may find a mountain or an eternal journey upon open waters in a Schooner.
Who's to say that my heaven would fit yours or theirs? This would be just reward for good souls.
I just want to say that God surely has his hands full with all these religions, the nay sayers, forcasters of doom for your retirement check. Who are these prophets for pay? Well they've left a bad taste in my mouth for a God that would say today's religions are justified in how they perform.
I prefer my thoughts of the gift for living good and my reward, my island and an eternal smile.
Not too much to ask but I'm open for your God.I am a child who craves the arms of her Father.The one who will tell me I've been good and I will be given a solid home with security in the here after.

I deeply appreciate your confusion. All being One is the truth behind everything. This means that no matter what we do in life our completeness can never abandon us.
However, an odd thing happens when we ignore our completeness. The denials gather to a singular force that has control over all that is the sum of its parts. This is the unified force of ignorance that shows its many faces through religious institutions, politics, and everyday life etc. Its power to control is without limit but only so as long as we remain unaware of its existence. It remains, to this day, unknown. It is ubiquitous and it is in complete control.
When we wake up to the fact that we ourselves have brought this ignorance to life and that it is a unitary reaction to the mass of our denials we will then know it as our own child and become parents: the birth of compassion. To properly understand the above and accept it as natural law requires special information. I offer my work Eternal Recurrence ...a step out of time.

In the UK less than 2% go to formal church services. Those that do come from the immigrant community. We are brought up to believe in Santa Clause and Fairies and God. One by one,the evidence of each is found lacking.

I suppose I've been bombarded by the inequities of religion and life just as you have, but when God enters your life at the darkest possible hour and rests his hand upon your shoulder, you begin to understand. He has created us in his image and given us the will and strength to go on through his forgiveness. He empowers us, but he cannot solve all the problems or evils that man creates himself. Man can either accept His grace or ignore it thus causing much of the turmoil that haunts you. Are we to blame everything that goes wrong in the world on Him or those who chose not to know or accept His love, despite the fact that His love is all encompassing?
I fall into a similar comfort zone as Bill with my own religious conviction being personal, but through a pretty unbelievable experience, I do trust and do believe as Victor, that God is in your heart.

It is a confusing time we live in, but I believe we must have God in our lives, I can understand your confusion though, but God gave us freedom to choose and sometimes those choices hurt others, that is why I live by Faith, and I agree with Joanne's comment we are living in a very dangerous time, thank you for sharing this

Extremly powerful questions Susan. Although I must asume He loves us no matter what the souls challenge.I think we pick our challenges before we leave pre - earth..It is not the hateful God I used to believe.I never accepted sin untill recently.I believe we are in a very dangerous time Susan where people think anythings Ok to believe, well they can and where will their soul be? People need a relationship with the Trinity, not religion.But this I am sorry does not include desired sin.I say this not as a hypocrit.I say this because , say, authors den is a window of all kinds of peoples beliefs. We must be acceptionaly careful who we invite in our consciousness...God does not desire for us to suffer.I was born into a father basterd Satanist.Did God do this?? NO..I believed He did and hated God for years.It is the souls desire to have an experience in earth plane.Prayer for others (intercession) helps along with word.I have found what worrks for me and I do not push it on any soul.
I am with you one hundred percent for although I believe there is some type of higher power I can not as you say fathom him being any of the God types the various religions and societies have delivered. The so called authourities even are based on the so called pure books of the gospels but they were picked and chosen by men years after Christ was even alive and only ones that suited the churches itinery were used. I believe the bible has it's good points but sadly it is not fact and it is not the be all and end all as a lot of people would have us think. I have studied various religions over the years and though I do not claim to be an authority my own thoughts are live right, help your fellow man, never intentionally hurt another and if there is a heaven and that doesn't gain you entrance then I guess I will face the conseguences. My God is love and loving my fellow man. Thank you for your thoughts and the chance to offer my own without I hope condemnation or derision.

Does God exists? Did He give us free will? Did He promise a reward for choosing good over evil? Is He to blame for the evil doing of men? I could go on, but if you want answers you won't find God. He is in your heart. Listen to Him only and as George says, read the Bible. Victor
There are some good points here. Of course, God knows we are weak and are going to commit "mistakes" over and over. No church nor He is allowing that, it's just part of our being human. That's why He says to forgive 70 X 7. Cause He knows we're gonna need that many times and more. Unconditional love is the purest and most beautiful of any. His is that kind. Most of your argument is against what we, humans, have "declared", "decreed" and set up. In the name of religion, of course. Thanks for sharing this one. We need to be reminded of these points.

Good questions Susan. I have concluded that there is not a God - at least not the guy in the sky with the beard keeping an eye on things. That's not to say the universe is not an amazing place. I think that we have much to learn about how reality is set up and that we only see part of it in this life. Malcolm Watts
