Fox News reported today an asteroid named RQ36 was speeding through space and could possibly be in a collision course with Earth by the year 2182. RQ36 is over 2000 feet wide - the length of 6 football fields and could wipe out the entire eastern seaboard.
Although none of us will be around to worry about it in 2182 it brings to the bare the fact our little planet is vulnerable to such catastrophes. We are still a long ways from being able to locate all possible earth impacting objects.
