New that riots had erupted on the streets of Tunisia on 14 January was announced by the BBC just 10 days after the Jupiter / Uranus conjunction in the latter degrees of Pisces. The reasons for the rioting were typically the domain of Pisces: unemployment and corruption. The people strongly believed (Jupiter) in the need for reform (Uranus) and joined forces to break free from the regime that had oppressed them for so long.
Within less than two weeks the desire for reform burst onto the streets of Egypt, where the world witnessed the strength of people against a 30-year old oppressive regime. The event dominated the world stage for over two weeks as the people demanded their leader give step down to make way for a more fair and democratic system of government.
I suspect that this is only the beginning of a wide sweeping change. Uranus has yet to ingress into Aries to join Jupiter where the initiation (Aries) of reform (Uranus) may yet topple more dictatorships than just Tunisia and Egypt.
The Jupiter / Uranus cycle is interpreted as the manner in which we break down (Uranus) belief systems (Jupiter). The planet Uranus has been sitting rather uncomfortably in Pisces for some time and whilst the desire for freedom from (Uranus) corruption and fraud within large institutions (Pisces) it was always going to be difficult to fight something as big and faceless as, lets say, the investment banking system. But the economic bust of 2008 and the consequences of it that we are now starting to feel will burst onto the world stage as we head into the Uranus in Aries period of time.
Reform is going to become one of the biggest imperatives for the world. The world currency (oil) is causing the cost of living to soar. Food is becoming scarce, or at least not affordable, for many and there will be civil unrest en masse as a result.
China, it was announced, is now the world’s second largest economy (China was also mentioned in the last article) but its people are earning wages greatly inferior to Japan, whom China usurped for second place. China is living its own industrial revolution, so it may come as no surprise if suddenly there is a call for unions and solidarity among workers for better pay and conditions.
The next place for uprising may be when Mars Conjuncts Uranus at the new moon in April, where we may be given cause to remember the ongoing oppression in Sudan and Mozambique. The cries for reform have started in North Africa, so it may be not so hard to believe that the furore of ill treatment by oppressive regimes cannot somehow filter all the way down the African continent. In fact, with Saturn in Libra (human rights?) opposing the new moon as well means the April 2 chart could throw up much more than just the ongoing reforms.
The causes of piracy around the Ethiopia / Yemen gulf is likely to be next when Neptune ingresses into Pisces. This is all within just a few months of the Jupiter / Uranus cycle beginning but as the idea of the people rising up against their oppressors take hold, the momentum could become an unstoppable force.
However, one may also need to be aware that the ingress of Neptune into its own sign of Pisces might cause confusion and subterfuge. Large institutions didn’t get large without knowing how to protect their interests. So one may well see regimes and large companies, where the writing could be on the wall unless they do something quickly, back peddling furiously to save their unworthy necks.
Naturally there is no exclusivity for the Jupiter / Uranus cycle to produce revolutions. One has to accept that it is the suggestion of the astrologer that the cycle, and its aspects, create the possibility of the energies that are necessary to exist for revolution to occur. What matters, from the generational Uranus point of view, is that the ideal being expressed in some way changes the group consciousness of the world in order to make whatever changes are needed to push forward the evolution of the world as a whole.

As was mentioned in the previous article, there appear to be spin off events that reflect the ideal that was expressed at the conjunction in both the squares and oppositions as the planets complete their dance through time. I have no doubt that we have not heard the end of the current conjunction yet, especially whilst Uranus sits in the last critical degrees of Pisces. Tension will increase, possibly to an explosive conclusion in April (new moon mentioned above with Mars / Uranus conjunction plus Jupiter all in Aries).
The next aspect, the outgoing square, will occur as early as August 2013. From the causes behind Tunisia and Egypt, it is likely that the next square will highlight the need for affordable food and a realistic standard of living, which is maybe not too surprising when you consider how so many previous revolutions started. And yet, in the 21st century, the fight against poverty continues without resolution. Albert Einstein described insanity as: ‘doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results’.
In its positive state, the Jupiter Uranus cycle should be pushing back the boundaries of understanding and technology. Space explorations have occurred under this cycle’s aspects. Revolution does not have to be a breaking away from something that no longer works. When the world stops holding people back we may find our ability to advance is phenomenal.
