The debate goes on !
"What is truth?" asked the King."What you feel when you stump your toe is the truth,Sire" replied the Philosopher.
It seems that less and less people are talking or discussing religion or religious matters these days. Church attendance is down by about 60% in every denomination in the Christian world .. Indeed, for many people today, knowledge of the natural world and scientific discoveries have replaced their faith in a mysterious, magical God ,making Science and Technology with it's marvellous inventions the new "God".
Many traditional Religions had urged it’s followers to give up the “foolish things” of this world and enjoy peace and happiness eternally in a mysterious “Heaven”after death, but today, that concept has changed dramaically and people are now looking at organized religion as "old fashioned" and archaic , if not a superstition, created by the Ancients to keep their ignorant "flock" in subjection.
Today people are looking to knowledge, not faith, as the basis of their existence, even the concept of an immortal "spirit" within has been discarded as superstition .
Indeed, today mankind has become more "materialistic" in his thinking and outlook and are now looking for instant gratification of pleasure and satisfaction in the “here and now” rather than in a future life after death.
Over the centuries, man has tried to solve the mystery of why we are here and how did we come to be here. The Ancients conceived of a powerful Creator who spoke and things came into being as if by magic, and this was accepted without question by the early Christians until in the Nineteenth century when the great English Biologist Charles Darwin came up with the theory that man came from the Apes, through the slow process of "Evolution".this ,of course, had created quite a stir, and outraged the religious world .loud outcries of a "Blasphemous" and a 'Satanic" doctrine were heard everywhere from the clergy banging on the pulpits with righteous angerand indignation,,causing much debate on the issue unto this day,.
Considering all the dreadful manmade mess the world is in today, despite all the religious teaching about the "goodness" in man over the centuries, maybe be Darwin was right after all, we are nothing but egotistic Apes, sometimes better, more often worse than our primate ancestors.

Evolution has nothing to do with chance. That is a common misunderstanding. Of course computers and libraries could not form on their own, they are not living creatures. But the human body, over a long time, has evolved and changed in many small increments.
As life forms attempt to cope with changes in their environment, physical and behavioral mutations come about as a result of cause and effect, not by chance. Whichever of these mutations helps the life form to thrive in the changed environment, becomes permanent within the species over many generations.
Call it evolution, natural selection, or survival of the fittest, but do not call it chance. It is not.
Lastly, though reason and logic has freed us from being responsible to a higher power of the biblical type, it has not freed us from responsibility to each other. It is entirely possible to create a moral code within a community that is not based on some kind of scripture or authoritative decree.
As intricate as the human body is, with our whole system working like a well oiled car, with all it's parts in perfect order......one wonders why anyone would think there's wasn't an intelligent designer who made us? Do we ever question how houses came into existence? Or cars? Or our clothes? Yet we become quick to dismiss how we came into existence, by calling it a "by chance" thing.
I've come to think that people will be willing to believe anything that frees them from responsibility to someone else. Belief in evolution frees you from being responsible to a higher power.
I invite all who read this to look up all the information they can on the human eye, or the tongue, and read absolutely everything there is to read about these two things, and then tell me they exploded into being over millions of yrs...and became what they are to us today all on it's own.
