Why is the water flow restricted coming out of my faucet?
Sometimes when the water flow is restricted coming out of that faucet, we immediately think we need a new one. Not always true . Sometimes all we have to do is unscrew the aerator and clean it, or replace it. When cleaning it, just remember how the parts go back together.
On another note, when a faucet is replaced, make sure the handles are in the open position when turning on the feed tubes below the sink. Sometimes a small piece of rust or mineral deposit breaks off in the pipe, and so we flush the new faucet out slowly, then we close the upper valve handles slowly. Of course we check for any leaks when it is now under pressure.
I have to remind the ladies of our house of this simple "fix" every time they discover that a faucet is slow and complain that it needs to be replaced. I guess they think it's like shopping. When something acts like it doesn't look good or work well anymore, throw it away and buy a new one. Just think of the millions of dollars that households would save if people would simply take the time to learn how to fix things rather than throw them away by a new one… Adding to the garbage heap.
