Last night I watched the pilot and first episode of Golden Sisters on OWN the Oprah Winfrey Network. http://www.oprah.com/own/Golden-Sisters-About-the-Show I must admit that I was highly amused. The Golden Sisters Mary, Teresa and Josie watched the Kim Kardashian’s XXX video that was highly publicized in the media and decided to open a TWITTER account and TWEET about it https://twitter.com/3goldensisters and now they have a mass following of fans. Apparently OPRAH got on board and now the three sisters have a show for all of us to view.
I am not sure what I love the most about the program…the sisters unabashed use of the phrase “shut up” or their missing filters, but you can’t help but to be envious of the love that so clearly permeates their relationship. Mary, the oldest sister (81) triangulates between her twin younger sisters. Joke bomb insults fly and raucous behavior seems to be the norm. It is clear that they are having a lot of fun. Apparently whatever thought crosses one’s mind flows freely and unapologetically from the mouth?
In an article and interview about the sisters in the Huffington Post the sisters talk about the creative process, laughter and aging.
They list as their greatest accomplishments, raising children, helping others and laughter. One of my dear friends Jonell Kirby Cash recently released her first work of fiction “A Ring A Dance A Second Chance” and credits the same achievements when asked…she is 83. What a beautiful process life is. What a ridiculously fabulous world we live in when fame and popularity are achieved by being oneself, being curious and creative and by living fully.
In this holiday season of giving and grace, isn’t it lovely to consider the possibilities all around us? In the ringing of the bells we nod and smile knowing an “angel got his/her wings” and in these small acknowledges we spread the love of the universe. Smile generously. Laugh heartily. Live fully and take in the love all around you. I challenge you to look for opportunities to smile upon your fellow man. Find a way to laugh even if it is watching a silly show that inspires your to put joy into your life. JOY and Peace to you…today and every day…and unabashed cheers for the New Year! Andrea Williams
